Funny, smart, good.

This podcast makes me laugh out loud in my car. I know Renata personally, but not so well that I would listen to her podcast if it weren't good. It's good. There's humor, snark, and smart critiques that may remind you of college, in a good way. Three episodes in, they've already touched on racial stereotypes, global capitalism and wealth disparities, and whether it's fair to ask teen books to present healthy relationship models. Each episode has librarian Renata, author Kait, and a guest. They have good librarian ethics - not looking down on anyone or shaming people for particular reading tastes. They mock books, not readers. They riff on each other but don't ramble endlessly - they move quickly thorough a bunch of segments, which include Candy Pairing, Reader's Advisory, and Would You Rather. The Reader's Advisory segment is useful - I will be picking up Bright-Sided (recommended on the episode for The Secret). I'd love to hear some more data on exactly how well various books sold or what accolades they gained. Looking forward to future episodes.

oh hai terrible book!

Full of hilarity! Definitely the MST3K of the book world. Why are these books so popular? The Worst Bestsellers podcast will attempt to find out for you! I look forward to every installment. Smart and snarky, this is a great deal of fun to listen to.

Funny and insightful

Like another reviewer said, this is the MST3K of literature. What's not to like?

In the interest of full disclosure, I'll say up front that I know Kait personally and follow Renata on Twitter. HOWEVER, Kait also knows that I would tell her if her podcast sucked. It does not. It's hilarious but still informative, and they manage to summarize each book and what they liked (if anything) and didn't like while backing it all up with evidence from the book itself. They also read excerpts from the book so that listerners can get a better grasp of what's so terribad (this was especially hilarious and useful for The Secret).

But my favorite section of the podcast is definitely Duarte's Corner. I agree with all of his opinions.
