Best Pro Cycling Podcast

What else can be said....the return of John Galloway, with a new Irish partner Derek Troy. For those who used to listen to the Velocast, here is a summary:

A) Less polished than the Velocast (that was former mate Scott's doing). Scott was a great moderator, and really good at acting as the host of the podcast. Not that the Flamme Cast is worse, just this new cast I would say is more akin to the Two John's Podcast, which has a more homemade feel to it.

B) Better back and forth. Derek is a better counterweight to John, who could sometimes overtake the Velocast's air, leaving Scott with little to say except set up each opinion for John.. Derek on the other hand, can hold his own, and has some strong opinions himself about the sport.

C) No other podcast (in English anyways) comes close to the depth of analysis on the pro cycling scene. The discussion of the races go beyond the typical "he rode a strong race" banter. They question tactics, team selections, course routes etc...

D) They have an affinity for so called "Hard Man's" races, and will divert attention to the classics, semi-classics and smaller races throughout Europe. For those in the States, used to the customary Tour De France only coverage, this is a great change of pace. They even discuss stories such as the Grewal comeback, which in tyhe grand scheme of things is a blip on the cycling radar, but devote a couple of minutes discussing him, his results and promise more coverage. Just great stuff.

E) They do not pull punches...case in point...telling Jens Voigt to HTFU. Where else can you get that?

Good stuff

An Irishman and a Scot discuss bicycle racing, a fun and insightful look at the colorful world of professional cycling. If you have any interest in racing this is the podcast for you
