Could be better

The podcast spends way too much time on emails and not enough on talking about particular topics. I have no problem with the first 20 minutes of the podcast being devoted to a few emails, but it seems like 3/4 of it is just one long email segment.

It also be nice if there were interviews every now and then for a change of pace.

It is a good podcast, but I hope a couple changes are made.

Appropriately irreverent baseball show

I was devastated when the "Up and In Podcast" came to an end, but i've found a strong alternative in "Fringe Average." Jason Parks (previously of "Up and In") brings his usual intelligent, honest and appropriately irreverent voice to the game of baseball, while Mike Ferrin (Co-host Power Alley MLB Network Radio) guides the show through an assortment of major and minor league topics — all while providing strong takes and opinions of his own. Glad to have Parks back in my life, and excited to see what Ferrin brings to the table after a promising start. — Andrew Nemec

Great Baseball Podcast

When Kevin Goldstein left to take a job inside baseball, I figured that Up and In would have to have to go on hiatus, since it seemed that KG bore most of the production burden. I was wondering about/hoping that Jason Parks would come back with a podcast in some form or fashion and speculated on who might co-host with him. I figured it would be Jorge.

I didn't really have any exposure to Mike McFerrin (not a XM subscriber), but I knew that he and KG did a show on XM. I assumed that he would be a great pairing with Parks, and really their chemistry has exceeded my expectations.

This podcast is more MLB-centric than Up and In, which is fine with me. So far (through 4 episodes) the main differences between the two podcasts is Fringe Average has yet to feature any interviews of third parties nor any pop culture moments; however, the new podcast has maintained Up and In's featured musical guests. This results in a shorter but still substantial baseball focused conversational podcast, which is great, Keep it up!
