So Helpful

Being newly engaged, I can't get enough wedding planing! These ladies are so helpful with all of their ideas, tips, interviews, and suggestions. I'll definitely continue to listen all the way until the big day!

Straight and Narrow

I liked this podcast but was growing weary of the hetero-normative language so I reached out to see if it was intentional or not. This was my communication with Kim:

Hi, Shannon and Kim.

I am a new listener to your podcast and am slowly catching up on old episodes while listening to new ones. I love your tips and special guests. I have noticed you use hetero-normative language and never address same-sex weddings. Is that on purpose? Maybe I have just not caught that episode yet? Any plans to do so?

Hoping in California

Kim's Reply:

Thank you got reaching out. To be honest we don't plan to. I believe there are a few other podcasts/shows that specialize in same sex weddings.
Thank you so much for listening and I hope you gained some helpful info.

My follow up:
Would you even consider expanding your language to include the possibility that not all couples are bride and groom? One million same-sex weddings have happened in the U.S. since the Supreme Court ruled in our favor. Are you against marriage equality? Or worried that your listeners are?

Thanks for any clarification.

That was sent March 8 and I have not received a response since. I guess I got my answer. Five stars for good info. Zero for narrow-mindedness. Average = two + an unsubscribe. Too bad. 😔

Admittedly, I’ve been binge listening to this podcast since I got engaged in August this year (2018). I’m not one to binge watch, binge listen ANYTHING but with the excitement of my “big day”, as everyone calls it, and the complete REALNESS of these two women and their podcast, I’m about ready to listen to everything a second time! 😆 Even my fiancé is curious what these two have to offer! I’ve dabbled in a couple other wedding podcasts, none of which resonate with me as much. Thanks so much for all of your advice, tips, and good laughs! Love from Eugene, Oregon.
