Witty and Fresh

Gallant seems to always offer a sharp, intelligent, funny pod. Highly recommend it!

Best solo radio sports show in Houston

Gallant delivers a great show, always entertaining even if you find yourself disagreeing with him on some things. He's that right mix of full of himself and simultaneously self-deprecating. He's matched with a good producer in Ryan who calls him out on his s#$% but I do miss Josh Beard his former producer for his child like demeanor. When it was the Paul and Josh show, I compared the duo to Red Vs Blue's Church and Caboose (respectively) ---- funnily enough Josh agreed. Still Gallant and Ryan Rocket are a highly entertaining pairing, and Gallant just seems to work better at nights (if you're wondering what I'm on about, he's on Sportsradio 610 7-11pm in Houston). Refreshingly devoid of the typical sports talk host hangups and bad media habits, Gallant is one of the few reasons I still lsiten to sports radio regularly.

The Shift is a huge hit

I’m a longtime Houston sportstalk radio listener and supporter, so when I discovered a brand new BASEBALL show called The Shift was going to be on 610, I got worried. The “boring old corporate 610 shills” just doing a baseball show in general is a miracle in itself because a few years back, stations were banning baseball talk altogether! I am blown away by this show. I’m not even sure what it was I just listened to, but I am sure about the fact that it was filled with AUTHENTIC insight, smart original takes, and real belly laughs throughout. Derek Fogel has one of the best radio voices around and also extensive baseball knowledge from playing and also covering it. Perfect for a baseball show! That coupled with Pat McLellan’s very unique brand of comedy which is borderline brilliant to me because it’s all improv on the fly yet he gets very specific and detailed on some bits that he sounds convincing saying absurd things and it’s beautiful. What makes The Shift Masterclass is that both hosts have high baseball IQ’s so the inside baseball talk is very good and then McLellan somehow manages to be absolutely ridiculous and fun the entire show while also not messing up the real baseball talk at all. Not sure how he does this. The comedy is almost its own show. Meta, man. These two guys together are special. John and Lance 2.0. I’m calling it now. The most innovative sports talk radio show in years is on SportsRadio 610! I swear to god if they don’t give these guys a chance...
