Description

Football star Aaron Hernandez went from the bright lights of the Super Bowl to a convicted murderer in a few years. The Boston Globe’s Spotlight Team, best known for its investigation of the sexual abuse scandal inside the Catholic Church, takes a hard look at the crisis facing football through the lens of Aaron Hernandez’s life and terrible crimes. From Wondery, the podcast team that brought you Dr. Death, Spotlight asks: Did a brain badly damaged by football contribute to Hernandez’s violent behavior? Did he keep secrets about his sexuality that collided with a hyper-masculine football culture? Did elite coaches and teams look the other way as Hernandez was spiraling out of control? Spotlight uncovered new documents, audio, and interviews to go deep into the story of what happened to Aaron Hernandez, and what it means for those of us who cheer on a violent game.

Unreal

I stumbled upon this podcast and was immediately disgusted by the title portraying Aaron Hernandez as a “Gladiator.” Listening to this podcast only added to my disgust. All these reasons trying to portray poor Aaron Hernandez as a poor victim who just needed some help in life but no one would help the poor guy... 😭😭 Pathetic, the guy was a psychopath who murdered people that he thought “Disrespected” him. He was a psychopath before any “head injuries.” This podcast tries to blame CTE for his actions, yeah that makes sense because so many other NFL players in their 20s commit murders all the time. They just can’t help themselves it’s that CTE.... oh wait, none of the other thousands of players did that. What a joke!

Entitled

Entitled football star kills people and you blame others for him being a murder?????

Not very respectful or thoughtful to the victims at all. Just more entitlement.

Outstanding!!!

I’ve listened to the first two episodes and wow. Some major facts I had not ever heard before. Eye opening...
