I’m not a big fan of sermon podcasts, but Bill Vogler has a great way of delivering the gospel.
A very helpful resource of exegetical sermons
Whether delivered by the senior pastor or one of the associate pastors or occasionally a guest speaker, these are very well thought through studies with a deep reverence for the authority and sufficiency of Scripture. I often listen to a series on a particular book from the Bible in order to get a helpful overview of what key passages reveal and how they’ve been interpreted through the ages. These, along with John MacArthur and John Piper sermon series have been some of my most trusted and understandable teaching from pastors living and preaching in modern times.
Faithfulness to Scripture in an ordinary but refreshing way
As a former member of Grace EPC of Lawrence, KS - I remember spending a great deal of time reviewing different church's "positions" or what their theology was. I found Grace's to be faithful to Scripture (in context). Bill Vogler the head pastor since the church opened is a wise and humble man. When people ask him about Grace, he responds with that it is an ordinary church. I really love this perspective. Grace doesnt have any special over other congregations. It humbly and prayerfully tries to testify truthfully to the Scriptures (i.e. the Bible). Since you likely haven't met Bill or the other staff, I'll give you a short description of Bill of whom most of the sermosn on podcast come from. Bill is a wisened man who takes time to invest deeply in all aspects of the congregation (composed of families, all ages of students including a thriving college group, and the elderly across wide socio-ecoonomic backgrounds). He is a prayerful man who studies Scripture carefully (an absolutely brillaint man who studied well beyond his undergraduate in economics) and takes efforts to faithfully deliver the Gospel each time he preaches. Not that it REALLY matters but I also find Bill to be absolutely hilarious. It is so refreshing to hear the Gospel preached in a rich and deep way with the context explained well to where those unbeknownst to the faith as well as those who are mature Christians will feel challenged and encouraged in it...but most importantly will be pointed and prompted to glorify the Lord. I think you will find the richness of Scripture proclaimed well in these sermons (including the ones by others on staff at Grace) and subsequently your walk with Christ will be deepened. Blessings!
