Surviving the Bible seeks to get your sermon/service prep jumpstarted by homing in on crucial issues and themes in the passages and talking through possible opportunities and issues in preaching the various texts. We’ll aim for Lectionary commentary that is sharp and practical, maybe seasoned with a pinch of snark. Join Rev. Amy Piatt, Dr. Tripp Fuller, and guru impersonator Christian Piatt for some weekly fun.

Daniel I have loved. But Tripp?

An excellent addition to the HBC stable. Having just powered through all the episodes, I intend to make this a regular part of my podcast diet.

I do have a couple of suggestions to offer. I'm not a pastor, so I won't be listening for sermon prep help. Rather, I enjoy the podcast as Bible commentary. I listen while working and can't usually stop and look up the texts. So it would be helpful if you would read the texts, or at least summarize them, before beginning the discussion.

As for my ribbing of Tripp, I do humbly suggest that he consider being a little better at sharing the mic. :)

Thanks for the excellent show and PREACH ON!

A must for preachers

Tripp Fuller from Homebrewed Christianity and the Good Doctor Daniel Kirk break down the lectionary readings from the Revised Common Lectionary. The RCL is used by a large group of Christian churches and a Lectionary outlines which scriptural passages are to be read in church. As an Episcopal priest, we follow the RCL and Tripp and Daniel enter into dialogue with my thoughts on what I'll be preaching about on the coming Sunday. It's better than any commentary that I might read. Great stuff. Listen and subscribe!

Revised Common Lectionary Feast

The Homebrewed podcasts always challenge my thinking about the Bible.

This is more like an all-you-can-eat buffet than a brew. The yummy kind, not all warmed over and stale.

Starting at Pentecost was a wise idea. But can they sustain their momentum and keep the buffet fresh and hot through the end of common time in a few months?
