Great for Seasoned Pros and Absolute Beginners

This is hands down the best podcast about this business.

I know that’s a bold statement, but I’m a senior copywriter and I’ve been writing professionally for about 10 years. I currently work for a well known Fortune 500 company and have a solid amount of freelance on the side. I only mention that so you know this review isn't from some greenhorn that doesn’t know better.

If you are new, this is a great place to start. If you are seasoned, you’ll be delighted at their suggestions for the backend stuff (personal branding, billing, legal, etc.). Hearing about how other people approach running a freelance business is valuable, especially if you’re coming from an agency or in-house situation.

Unlike graphic design, the vast majority of the resources for copywriters are just garbage. The forums are full of weirdo positive thinking cult members and scammers. The newer books on copywriting age badly and are useless within a few years. Almost no one has solid advice on setting rates or how to better manage your clients.

I’m of the opinion that you can either write or you can’t, but they have great writing tips that will definitely help anyone get more proficient. I used a tip I picked up from them the next day on a live project.

The hosts are smart, relatable, honest, and experienced. For some reason I keep wondering which one tells a better dirty joke. It’s probably the accents.
