Ideas that need spreading
Not to sound too melodramatic, but Pinchbeck's ideas might help navigate us sapiens safely into the future. Thanks to Chris Ryan and Tangentially speaking for helping me find his voice.
Open discussions with opened minds.
Marianne is great
Listening to Daniel and Charles in this, the former who said he wants to see a global economic meltdown and the latter who felt "glee" when he heard that Trump won, gives us insight into why the Left can't get it together--they represent the element of the Left that seems to want a total meldown instead of considering that strategic and incremental politics can make lasting systemic reform possible.
I was so grateful for Marianne when she convincingly argues that there would have been a huge difference between Trump and Clinton, and that privileged guys like Daniel and Charles probably won't be the ones who suffer the most if their preferred outcome of disaster is realized.
I was also surprised that Charles, describes as a "thought leader," makes the claim about a corrupt Clinton Foundation--for which Marianne quickly points out that there is no evidence for that. So even Charles has fallen for fake news--not quite a thought leader in that aspect.
Finally, I hope that Daniel works a bit on his delivery, that is slowed down by his frequent "sort of, like, you know, ummms" sprinkled throughout.
A good future question--what about the psyche of folks like Daniel contributes to their desire to see the system completely collapse--the Thanatos drive? A denial of just how much the system supports them now? etc.?
