The Hunger Games Trilogy, by Suzanne Collins, takes place in a post apocalyptic future were the United States of America has collapsed and supplanted by Panem, a country divided into the Capitol and 12 districts. Each year, two young representatives between the ages of 12 and 18 are selected from each district to participate in The Hunger Games. The televised games are broadcasted throughout Panem as the 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors, literally, with all citizens required to watch. If you can get over the brutal concept of young kids fighting each other to the death for people’s entertainment and the fact that this series was originally written for a very young audience, we feel that you will come to enjoy this series like millions of people around the world have. Cliff and Stephanie invite you to join them as they share their initial reaction to this story as they are read the series for the the first time and then as they cover the movie(s) and other materials related to the series. i love this podcast!!! I'm addicted!!!

I Feel Like they Lost Sight

Let me start off by saying that I love Cliff and Stephanie, and love all of their other podcasts, including this one. But I am giving this only 3 stars because of the incredibly infrequent updates and the lack of quality in the last several episodes due to a lack of real discussion. The podcast started out as a book discussion podcast from the POV of a couple reading THG for the very first time. To me, this was the main appeal: it was a great twist compared to the other HG podcasts out there and listeners who had already read the books could vicariously re-live that first time reading experience and be taken aback to all of that suspense, terror, excitement, and theorizing. But then.., Stephanie finished the series almost two whole books ahead of where they were in the discussion. Not that I blame her for that - it would take the iron will of a monk to put these books down once you've started them. But the discussion quality became severely lacking after that. Cliff and Stephanie were no longer theorizing as a couple. More like Cliff, whose theories are usually more outlandish than not (mostly on purpose), would offer up his theories or his thoughts on what he thought a characters motivations were before the story revealed it to him, and Stephanie could only respond with "Okay" as to not give anything away, since she now knows everything and Cliff does not. So the past 10 episodes have mostly been just detailed chapter summaries as told by Stephanie, who doesn't sound as passionate as she did before, with occasional discussion thrown in by Cliff, but not much else. This also used to be a weekly podcast, but now that Stephanie, who seems lije the main motivator between the two to record, has finished all of the books, there is no longer the motivation to record so they can move on to the next chapters. There's no incentive. Added to that the fact that Mockingjay, the book they are currently on, is her least favorite, and you get a podcast that just seems like the passion has been sucked out of it, and it reflects in their very now infrequent updates (it's been almost a month since their last episode). I understand that they have a family and several other podcasts that they record, but Cliff and Stephanie have made podcasting their career choice. This is what they do full time. So for the intense and purpose of this podcast, this is a product that they created that they are now failing to deliver on. They built up a loyal listener base for this particular show, and, even if no one else agrees with me on my other criticisms, I know that we are all frustrated by the lack of updates for what was once promised to be a weekly show. You don't *attempt to have time* for the things you care about doing, you MAKE time. Cliff has to *make* time to read, Stephanie has to *make* time to re-read and take notes, and they both have to *make* time to record. But they no longer do. So that makes me, a loyal listener for over 3 years, truly believe that, as far as THG podcast goes, that they no longer care.

Great team, Great Podcast

I am familiar with Cliff and Stephanie from their various podcast on the GSPN network and they have hit it out of the ball park again with this podcast. It is fun to listen to them as they read their way thru the Hunger Games. This is a good time to get familiar to with a great book that is about to become a movie and you find no better people to lead you along the journey
