Description

Do you have a spouse who voted for a different candidate? An uncle or sibling you dread seeing at Thanksgiving? A lifelong friend with whom you just can't see eye to eye? As political divisiveness reaches a fever pitch in the Trump era, psychotherapist Jeanne Safer takes on the uncivil war between Republicans, Democrats, and every indie party in between in the new podcast, I Love You But I Hate Your Politics. On the show, Dr. Safer will show family and friends how to ensure their loving relationships not only survive, but thrive, despite political differences and disagreements.

Ok but won’t be listening more

I was intrigued by this podcast, but I felt disappointed y the first episode. I felt like it was kind of shallow and didn’t really ask deep or hard questions about how the couple reconciled their differences. Carlos never actually explained why he voted for Trump and Nancy never explained why she became okay with it. They brought up that Nancy asked how he was okay with someone being disrespectful to women and they never go into how they actually resolved that besides avoiding the topic, which isn’t very satisfying. Well produced show through.

Love this Podcast

I love listening to the stories. There is someone very close to me that we do not see eye to eye on politics and I still care for that person. At the end of the day I feel that nobody will ever undertand if they have not walked in that person's shoes. Everyone has a story and as an immigrant that came to this country at a young age I have worked really hard to get to where I am. I will continue to voice my opinion when it deals with minorities and discrimantion and the people on the right side will never understand. This country is lacking empathy and the current commander in chief does not have it as well as his followers.

Doesn’t help

The woman leading the podcast seems to simply want to promote her book. The conversations are between two privileged people who simply agree to just not talk to the other about politics. There is no real solution. The people literally just agree that they “see where the other is coming from” and stop taking to each other. That is not realistic for people who have to be political to preserve their lifestyle or even maintain their existence in the world. Also, Brittany in one of the episodes said she doesn’t talk about politics cause it’s just not her. How privileged, you can choose to ignore political action that is harming many people in our country. And Emily worrying about people thinking poorly or her and her husband- so privileged. Over it.
