Customer Reviews

Fantastic podcast for writers!

I listen to this along with The Secrets, The Kissy Bits, and Holly Lisle and find it very helpful. It's really encouraging to hear from another struggling fiction writer as she tries to break into publishing. Mur has a fantastic voice and podcasting personality and is very easy to listen to, as well as encouraging and insightful. I highly recommend this podcast!

Good Motivation

I’d venture to say it’s hard to find a writer who doesn’t think he or she could be writing more often, and “I Should Be Writing” is a friendly reminder of that – with an emphasis on the friendly. Host Mur Lafferty lends a very balanced aesthetic to the podcast, that is, polished and professional sounding (one could easily imagine this show on NPR) and yet very casual and convivial. Furthermore, her advice on writing is always spot-on – never preachy or overbearing. Highly recommended for beginning and experienced writers alike.

I shouldn't be reviewing

I have been listening to this show since it started, as I was a fan and listener to Mur's Geek-Fu Action Grip before. All I have to say is that it's magnificent. Mur inspires all us aspiring writers to not give up and pick up that old novel or story idea again and keep plucking away at it. I Should Be Writing is a great mix of Mur's personal struggle to get herself published, combined with advice and ideas, and topped off with interviews with published authors to make sure what she has been saying is true. So far I have not been disappointed and everything has been true. The only downside I can think of is that she inspired me so much I took the time to make this review when I should be writing.
