    In this weeks episode we dive into a topic that is close to my heart after watching the pain and suffering my mum went through and the complications and difficulties she has had after falling in her bedroom one day and breaking her hip.
     
    This experience of course led me deep into the research on osteoporosis and in todays video/podcast we cover

    Loss of Bone Mass Density
    Dexa Scan T-score  -1.0 to -2.5 is Osteopenia
                        T-score  less than -2.5 is Osteoporosis
    Bone is 40-50% inorganic component (hydroxyapatite), 10-15% water and 35% organic component(protein).  90% of the organic component is collagen Type 1 and the remaining 10% non-collagenous proteins

    Osteoblasts-formation of bone, secrete alkaline phosphatase to create sites for calcium and phosphate deposition. Osteoclasts-bone resorption, secretes acid phosphatase which unfixes the calcium Osteocytes are osteoblasts which are responsible for homeostasis of oxygen and mineral levels.

    Never Give Up: The Winners Mindset Determination, Resilience And Tapping Into Your Hidden Strengths To Achieve The Impossible With Lisa Tamati

    In this weeks episode of "Pushing the Limits", I had the amazing opportunity to be a guest on the Fit Father Project Podcast with Dr. Anthony Balduzzi.
    In this uplifting conversation, I share my journey from professional ultra-endurance athlete to health optimisation, longevity, anti-aging, and high-performance expert. We delve into the incredible journey of determination and resilience that mum and I have been on. 
    After my mother suffered a massive aneurysm and was told she would never have any quality of life again, I was catapulted from the world of sports into the world of health. Refusing to accept the prognosis. I dove deep into the research and spent the following years helping mum rehabilitate herself. She went from having hardly any function to having complete independence, including getting her driver's license back, walking up to 5 km a day, and going to the gym five days a week.
    The story doesn’t end there. After all of that progress, mum was hit with a terminal cancer diagnosis and given just weeks to live. 
    Again, not willing to give up, I plunged back into the research and devised a comprehensive protocol using everything from the science around the metabolic approach to cancer to peptides, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a strict keto diet, and more. 
    The result? My mum is now cancer-free, while she is still dealing with a few issues she is loving life and enjoying her time as a grandmother at age 82!
    My conversation with Dr. Anthony highlights the importance of mindset and pushing through mental and physical limits. I hope my story inspires you to never give up, no matter what you are facing.

    Jay Campbell was  a competitive HS athlete in Baseball, Soccer and Basketball, Jay played collegiately for Georgia Southwestern University 
    While playing competitive men's league basketball at 29 in Southern California, he was kicked in the testicles leading him to a miraculous journey of self exploration where he found the wonderful and transformative power of therapeutic testosterone.

Actionable, informative

I’m not even sure how I stumbled into this podcast, but I’m thankful I did. The guests she has on her show are reputable, scientific, experts in their field. There’s often so much content to absorb that I listen to the same episode 2-3 times. Lisa herself is genuine and well prepared to interview her guests. As an internal medicine nurse practitioner I’ve seen over and over the damaging affects of “reactionary medicine” rather than preventive medicine. This is a reputable source for health education. Thank you Lisa!
