Admittedly, I knew almost nothing about craft chocolate and sustainability before I started working with cacao farmers as a Peace Corps volunteer several years ago (I was assigned based on my business background). Seeing what goes into the production and how hard farmers work for so little has made me very enthusiastic about craft products that have been sustainably sourced (Sunita often refers to this as Happy Chocolate, and I love that!). This podcast does an incredible job at giving us a peak into the craft chocolate industry in the US and the challenges & joys that makers and retailers go through. If you want to take a deep dive into the industry with a podcast that keeps it interesting, relevant, and honest, I'd highly recommend this one!
Put me in context
Thanks a lot to share all those thoughts. I am from the other world. I meant, the bad called third world. And I did no have idea how much craft makers suffer here. Now, I am starting my small batch chocolate bar business in Florida and your post help me a lot, because I expanded my business from Venezuela (which cacao grows in every state) to a place with no cacao but a better economy.
Sunita and Brian deliver down-to-earth and informative conversations about craft chocolate, and the ethics of the cocoa and chocolate industry.
