Best middle ground movie reviews I've heard yet

I'm not typically one to pay attention to movie reviews because everyone is a critic. However, On The Slab is a wonderful middle ground because the hosts do a wonderful job of dissecting movies new and old while being critical about mistakes that were made based on their world experiences, as well as their knowledge of screenplays and script writing.

A good balance

Annie and Silvio make a very good team. It is very obvious that both of them love and have a deep understanding of movies. Their Last Jedi review was fair and very informed. I also really appreciated Annie's review of Bright and the way she handled talking about representation of minorities and women in movies was very refreshing and I'm looking forward to hearing more from the two of them.

Academic film reviews

The reviewers obviously have a very in-depth education in political science and a deep appreciation for deconstructing films.

The audio isn't perfect, but it is very near. There's a slight hum, and you can tell the hosts aren't recording in the same room. Aside from that though, they're doing a good job.

I feel as though the show in general will benefit significantly with a more structured approach. Topic hopping can be pretty distracting and it seems like the hosts have a lot that they'd like to cover. If the topics were kept in sections to make a clearer progression, this would make it a lot easier to follow.

As someone who doesn't often listen to film review podcasts, I'd certainly consider giving them a try in future!
