Bitchen, give a listen and you’ll be hooked

Sarah Marshall and Michael Hobbes are an inviting retro investigative-journalist team. They seek to set the record straight(er) on past “news events” and long-held American fears which misinformation, sensationalism and willful American ignorance have created and perpetuated. While giving insightful context, they debunk falsehoods around Amy Fisher, Columbine, and Stranger Danger to name a few. Their refreshing commentary is sympathetic where appropriate and critical of those who mis-shaped public perceptions for their own ends. And the asides are LOL hilarious - jabbing at the absurd, reductionist way these “stories” were conveyed at the time, simultaneously adding nuance and humanity where it’s sorely needed. If you are a curious person and like sharp, informative yet kind examinations of misunderstood topics this is #winning

So good

I’ve only listened to a few episodes so far and already I’m panicking because I don’t know what I’ll do when I’m all caught up! You two are so smart and funny, and thanks especially for making racism, gender dynamics, and queerness so visible in these stories.
