The Base Control Podcast Episode 004 w/ The Strength House

Greg Robins and Tony Bonvechio, Co-owners of the Strength House, originally started their business via their online strength training clients in 2013 and have been successful enough to now make their dreams a reality.  Opening in the fall of 2017, The Strength House now serves as Worcester's top strength training facility, specializing in powerlifting, strength training and sports performance.  Greg and Tony have created something very special not only within the four walls of the gym, but across the strength training industry as well.  (Make sure to give their own podcast a listen too!)
In this episode, we chat with Greg, Tony and Nancy Newell, their Director of Sports Performance, about the initial stages of building The Strength House as well as how they ensure each of them are performing the appropriate tasks, something they refer to as "Delegate to Elevate".  Although The Strength House has only been open a short time, they've already been able to create their own unique culture which embodies everything that Greg and Tony envisioned....which is by no means an easy task.
This is a great episode about taking a vision, working hard and making it your own reality!  So happy for you guys and can't wait to make another visit!

Primal Supply Meats W/ Heather Marold Thomason & Cecilie May

Primal Supply Meats W/ Heather Marold Thomason & Cecilie May

Primal Supply Meats is a Philadelphia based butchery, founded by Heather Marold Thomason and Cecilie May in 2016.  Heather and Cecilie may have different backgrounds but their love of food and their craft brought them together, and oh we're so lucky!
Primal Supply Meats has partnered with more than a dozen local farmers in order to provide Philadelphia restaurants and home chefs with quality pasture-raised meats.  Starting with a Butcher's Club (in which Warhorse is a proud drop off location), Heather and Cecilie were able to open a beautiful butcher's shop in 2018, located on East Passyunk Avenue in South Philly.
In this episode, we hear from both Heather and Cecilie as to what ultimately drew them to butchery, the importance of creating meaningful relationships, as well as the significance of what they're doing not only to us as the consumer, but to the farmer's and their land.
Please either head down to their new shop in South Philly or go to www.primalsupplymeats.com for more information! You will not be disappointed!
***Also, this was the first time recording with four microphones.  What we didn't realize was that the additional two microphones would take up more space on the SD card...close call on this one!***

Murder of Crows W/ Sean Collins

Murder of Crows W/ Sean Collins

Like most people, Sean Collins wasn't happy in his HR corporate job and was searching for something that would give him more fulfillment in life. Sean ended up joining his local CrossFit gym, Crow Hill CrossFit, and instantly fell in love with powerlifting.  After dedicating himself to the community at Crow Hill CrossFit, he was offered a full time coaching position there.  Soon after Sean, along with his partner Kurt Roderick, started Murder of Crows Barbell Club right next door in a 4000 square foot space.  Sean and Kurt now operate NYC's largest dedicated barbell training facility specializing in Powerlifting and Olympic Weightlifting.
In this episode, we talk with Sean and his wife Kayleigh about the struggles of entrepreneurship as a couple, Sean's love for the sport of Powerlifting, as well as how Sean was able to help his community get through a very sad and tragic loss of a dear friend and member.  We also ask Kayleigh why she refers to Sean as the Grinch :)
We hope you enjoy this episode and the lovely sounds of Brooklyn!  If you're ever in NYC, make sure to stop by and say what's up to Sean and the rest of the amazing people at Murder of Crows Barbell Club!

Walking On Fire W/ CJ Appenzeller

Walking On Fire W/ CJ Appenzeller

CJ Appenzeller first opened Appenzeller Training Systems in 2011 out of a 180 square foot storage closet. Over the past 7 years, through hard work and a positive mindset, CJ has built a successful business in which he prides himself on helping people find their true strength.  Appenzeller Training Systems now operates out of a 5000 square foot facility and is the home to both young athletes and adults.

In this episode, CJ talks about his journey from athlete to gym owner and where his blue collar mindset stems from.  We also talk about how he's been so successful at building a team of coaches, his passion for helping young athletes and you'll hear about his time at a Tony Robbins experience ....  it's pretty awesome.

Pat É ,

Listen to be inspired

This podcast certainly makes me motivated to move heavy stuff, but more importantly, it pushes me to remember why I try to move weight around a gym.

Jaclyn and Chris bring the best out of their clients and their guests on the podcasts. They have built a community of like minded lifters beyond the four walls of their gym and this is the audio proof of their hard work.

Give it a listen then go move some weight.
