Description

Welcome to Fairhaven, a literal Bubble of corporate utopia set amid the wild, goblin-infested Brush. The first scripted comedy series from Maximum Fun, Bubble tells a tale that is both contemporary and otherworldly, as a small band of monster killers struggles to make ends meet and find love in a nightmarish version of the gig economy. Starring: Alison Becker (Parks and Recreation), Keith Powell (30 Rock), Cristela Alonzo (Cristela), Eliza Skinner (The Late Late Show) and Mike Mitchell (Love), with appearances by Judy Greer, John Hodgman, Martin Starr, Paul F. Tompkins, and many, many more.

Customer Reviews

Disappointed

I was excited to hear the Max Fun was coming out with a scripted drama, but I felt disappointed by the product. I’m a big fan of JJGo, JJHo, TAZ, and MBMBAM. I was hoping to find myself immersed in my own bubble. However every time I finally felt like I was being drawn into a scene, I was thrown back to my reality by the synthesizer theme for a commercial break or a hard cut. Most of the characters’ dialogue felt very forced, and the jokes seemed to be lousy-stoner-film-esque stereotype mocking or one liners delivered by characters that we barely know.

I’ll probably listen to at least one more episode, but I may be lost as none of the scenes struck me as particularly memorable. Even as I type this review moments after listening to the first episode, I’m struggling to remember any specifics. The premise was interesting, and I can imagine myself rolling on the floor listening to Jordan talk about this idea on JJGO. However once flushed out, this feels like a five min comedy bit that was stretched into a scripted podcast.

Ageist millennial caricatures

I wanted to love Maximum Fun’s new scripted podcast, “Bubble.” I was sure I would. Subscribed before a listen.

But WHOA, it’s just ageist caricatures of millennials set up to be dumped all over.

Had to unsubscribe and delete after 30 minutes / giving it too many chances.
