||Clean019 - Marketing Yourself (Interview with Kristen Knepper)||Kristen Knepper from Work Like a Girl interviewed me about how to market yourself. We covered some of the challenges we face as women, especially young women, when trying to market ourselves to advance our careers or build our personal brands. You can watch the full interview here. COMING SOON: Tune in next week for my upcoming interview with Kiki L’Italien about Voice Marketing with Amazon Alexa. Topics: What's the resistance to marketing oneself for most people? Why do women in particular resist "marketing" themselves at work? I notice women being modest on their resumes/cover letters (e.g., "worked on team that created" rather than "created"). What advice would you give a woman who thinks she's not truthful or bragging when speaking boldly? Can personal aspects enhance the professional brand? Should they? Self sacrifice and giving to others is a feminine ideal, but many women compete with one another at work. Why is this? ||Clean018 - What You Pay - How to Be Value Driven||Are you value-driven or paying too much? From business to relationships to everyday life, seeking real value can save you in big ways. Two podcasts mentioned: 1) It's not what you buy, it's what you pay.-Howard Marks Heard on Barry Ritholtz's podcast, Masters in Business (some really smart guests on this show, you should listen. There is a solid episode with Barbara Kahn about the retail revolution.) "Bloomberg Opinion columnist Barry Ritholtz interviews Howard Marks, the CFA and co-chairman of Oaktree Capital Management, in his third appearance on Masters in Business. An author as well as an investor, Marks most recently wrote “Mastering the Market Cycle: Getting the Odds on Your Side,” which was released this month." Howard Marks interview here. Arthur Laffer on Storybrand podcast (flat tax all the way): "Donald Miller talks with Art Laffer, a prominent American economist whose ideas have shaped policy from the Reagan administration through today." You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. Finally, hackneyed but my very favorite - and AGAIN financial advice that applies to life in general: Be fearful when others are greedy, and greedy when others are fearful.-Warren Buffett||10/28/2018||Free||View in iTunes|

Might Become My Fav Short Marketing Podcast Substance & Personality.
This little podcast has substance & personality.
I actually found it via Amazon Flash Briefings on my Echo and quickly became a fan.
What I like about the flash briefing is the same thing I like about this podcast, only this is just a bit longer, but still brief :-)
As background for context: I ran one of the leading websites for top advertising & marketing professionals and we produced at least half a dozen advertising & marketing podcasts as well as numerous blogs, featured writers, etc. so I'm familiar with the topics and producing good content.
Ok so this podcast is refreshing. Clean. Clear. Quick. One of the best little marketing run-throughs I've heard. Now I haven't heard all them, but I've heard most (as of this writing) and most are solid.
Not all are great, but I'm picky, and even the weaker ones are really good, especially compared to other marketing podcasts. 90%+ lack substance and are lengthy.
This has relevant, timely info and is concise. I'm a fan of brevity so extra points. IMO, too many people blather on and waste your time and dilute the substance of their content. Keep it simple peeps :-)
I also dig that this content is coming from a woman. Almost all purchase decisions are made by women. Even 80% of car tires are bought by women. Women buy almost all the products, yet all the marketing podcast are men talking. #gofigure. It's nice to hear from a woman.
From what I can tell it seems this podcast is basically the longer version of one of the weekly flash briefings. Seems there are five flash briefing a week but just one podcast a week. Unsure why just one flash briefing turns into the weekly podcast. Popularity? Dunno.
Bottom Line: Relevant, timely content, delivered quickly, from a valuable perspective. Better than 90% of all those lengthy marketing podcast I've heard in 1/16th the time. Quickly become my fav marketing goto.
