The Indian subcontinent is about the size of Europe and is way more diverse and complicated - but how much do we know about its violent past? The land of Gandhi is also the land of the war-elephant, of gunpowder-wielding infantry, and of nuclear weapons that destroy everything in their wake.

In Yuddha, Anirudh Kanisetti (host of Echoes of India: A History Podcast) and Aditya Ramanathan explore the darker, blood-splattered side of India, beyond Bollywood and school textbooks. From the medieval invasions of Southeast Asia to the titanic clashes of the twentieth century, this is the military history of the subcontinent the way it was meant to be told.

The best podcast for Indian military history buffs

I have never written a podcast review before but the sheer pleasure of listening to this podcast make me write one in appreciation. Great coverage of topics and was especially interested in listening to babar and Babarnama. Wonderful coverage of war tactics and show how complex some of the issues were and not just dictated by religion. Kudos and keep going.

Fantastic podcast

This has been one of favorite finds of 2020. Even if you think you know the “real” Indian history, give this one a try. You’ll likely find a lot of interesting information you didn’t know. Also narrated very engagingly by the hosts. I hope they continue down this path right up to modern times in coming seasons.
