The "O" Word Sarah Quinata

Today we have a very special guest who is also one of my current professors that the University of Nebraska at Omaha! Meaghan Fitzgerald Walls holds a bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics with a Chemistry minor and a Masters in bioengineering with an emphasis on rehabilitation and assistance technology. Meaghan’s accomplishments do not end there. She sits on many committees including Alzheimer’s Association Dementia Care Conference Planning Committee and the Mayors Advisory commission for Citizens with disabilities. Throughout her professional career, she has held many titles, but she is currently the President, founder, and Chief executive officer of Assistology, LCC. 

In this episode of The "O" Word host Sarah will interview two professors from across the globe. Dr. Lyn Holley is a gerontology professor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha in the United States. Dr. Holley has been published in esteemed journals such as  "The Gerontologist" and "Educational Gerontology". The second guest, Dr. Grzegorz Zurek, hails from Wroclaw, Poland. Dr. Zurek is a professor at University of Physical Education in Worclaw. Just a few of his areas of interest include cognitive sciences, neurocognition sciences, and physical culture sciences. Both professors have collaborated in a college course that brings students from the USA and Poland together to discover what aging is like across the globe. 

The first episode of The "O" word will be number one in a two part series on Canada. 
Ashely Dipchan will share her experience of being a geriatric recreational therapist in Ontario, Canada. She will discuss the benefits of recreational therapy, specifically for older adults, and how she sees the Canadian and Ontario governments are both helping and hindering older adults.

In the last episode of the Canada series, I will be interviewing Ashley Akins. Ashley is located in Ontario, Canada and works in gerontology and recreation. She is currently working on her masters in Gerontology at Brock University in Ontario, Canada. Join me as we have a conversation about aging and recreation in Canada.
