Holy Guacamole

This is so good. I love this so much. Andy is so articulate for someone who doesn't write lyrics.

As a longtime fan of Doctor Gaines, I am so excited to see him make the jump to the world of podcasting. There’s nothing cooler than when great artists team up and I can’t wait to follow where Andy and the good Doctor go.

I have to say I was not sure what to expect from this podcast; I have been a fan of Andy for quite a while and may or may not follow him around like a lost puppy, so when he announced this podcast I was intrigued. I just finished the first "real" episode and I am now quite interested in Dr. Gaines' (sp?) art, as well.

More importantly, I'd like to address why I titled the review "Honesty". I titled it so because that's what I take away from this conversation. It takes a lot of fortitude to openly address something as personal as anxiety and its coinciding attacks--I appreciate that. I also appreciate how it's not censored--it's real, it's genuine, it's a conversation. There's not subliminal motive in this podcast (at least so it seems), it's just two friends discussing things that matter to them. Very rarely do we, as consumers of an artist's art, get to see the person behind the mask and this offers an in-depth examination of the character of the people we support and follow. That being said, Andy definitely hit the nail on the head when he mentioned being able to separate the artist's views from their art and while I have more in common with Josh's views (as it would seem so far) I still love Andy's music and would love to sit down and listen to both he and Josh's personal philosophies. I doubt I'll ever get that chance, nor do I think it's appropriate to pressure them to laying out their innermost thoughts for us to see, but they excellently balance showcasing their personal opinions without making them obvious or shoving them down our throats. I like that.

I cannot wait for the new episode and look forward to backing Josh's Kickstarter. Congrats guys.
