From the Vault: The Hobbit (1977 film)

In this former Patreon-exclusive, Luke & James see Middle Earth in a time before Peter Jackson’s films, fall in love with a cat-like Smaug, get creeped out by a frog-like Gollum, reckon with a sterner version of Gandalf, discuss the evolution of animation outside of Disney in the states, and dream about owning a piece of LOTR history.

A Wild Trip Through “Alice in Wonderland” (1951 film) | Book vs Movie

A Wild Trip Through “Alice in Wonderland” (1951 film) | Book vs Movie

This just might be Walt Disney’s strangest adaptation, but that’s appropriate considering the source material with Lewis Carroll’s ALICE’S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND & THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS. In episode 310, join Luke Elliott & James Bailey as they take a tumble down a rabbit hole into Wonderland, eat some body altering mushrooms, get psychedelic with 70s counterculture & Jefferson Airplane, party with the Mad Hatter & March Hare at an un-birthday Party, and finish things off by voting on which version was ultimately better: the books or the movie!

A Rabbit Hole of Controversy in “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” (1865 novel)

A Rabbit Hole of Controversy in “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” (1865 novel)

Lewis Carroll gave the world perhaps the most iconic children’s books of all time with ALICE’S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND and THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS, but his legacy has become shrouded by controversy by modern scholars. In episode 309, join Luke & James as they follow the White Rabbit into a magical world, play logic and word games, appreciate puns, and get into some of the evidence surrounding the hotly-debated nature of the author’s relationship to Alice Liddell & her sisters. Join them next week when they compare the books to the Disney adaptation!

Always look forward to new episodes!

Years ago(2019ish) I was searching for LOTR content to listen to and found Ink to Film - this review is way overdue! Can always count on great overviews and insights from V for Vendetta to Pride & Prejudice and everything in between. Always look forward to seeing a new episode in my feed. Thank you guys!

Great hosts and cool podcast!

I’ve been listening to Ink to Film podcast since 2019 and it keeps getting better. Most of the source material really interests me, and either I get a whole new take on something I’ve already read or watched, or I’m introduced to something that I might have completely overlooked. I love the deep dives, honest critiques, and funny stories. It’s sort of like chatting about books and movies with good friends, just way more in depth!

Insightful podcast for book and movie fans!

Such a great, interesting and fun podcast! I love that they give the perspective of someone who is a writer and the other who works in film. Such great insight and you can tell they are passionate about what they do! Highly recommend!
