On the premiere episode of "Jason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films," Jason and Todd talk through C.H.U.D., barely paying attention except occasionally when John Heard talks. They talk about what makes a good bad movie, how to handle crazy people in public kids parks, and why it's great to get free stuff from movie studios. It's funny, it's fresh...it's free.
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 45)||Mutant is a zombie movie starring Wings Hauser, all-time favorite actor of both Jason and Todd. Rest assured that they still don't respect his performance, talking constantly while barely taking a breath. They touch on subjects like the work of Bo Hopkins, the healing effects of Dramamine, and the 45th president of the United States. (Numerologist alert: this is the 45th episode, Todd just turned 45, and yeah, the crazy orange guy.)||1/26/2017||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 44)||Virus is the name of a lot of movies, and the particular one these two fools watch is probably the worst of the bunch. And they are all pretty awful. This one is about the end of the world, and has weird rapey stuff all over it. Gross. Doesn't matter, though, because Jason is all worked up and has to get a ton of stuff off his chest. Also, Todd brings up French Stewart for some dumb reason.||12/15/2016||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 43)||Arlington Road is a superbly acted thrilled marred by mixed messages about white liberal paranoia and homegrown terrorism. Doesn't matter, because Jason and Todd have to get through an obligatory, however measured, political discussion, and then turn to avoid reality by talking about...well, lousy films.||11/22/2016||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 42)||Rabid is David Cronenberg's take on zombies starring a 1970s adult film star. The excitement of this horror show riles up Jason, and he goes off on Canada, American politics, and Todd. Todd sits mostly quietly, pretending to listen, while secretly enjoying former Ivory Snow girl Marilyn Chambers acting chops. Happy Halloween, suckers!||10/28/2016||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 41)||Poseidon is a remake of a movie that was an adventure. Doesn't matter, though, because Jason and Todd are back together in the same room and they have to discuss other stuff. Weirdly, they are both doing very well. They talk their lives and careers, which only possibly they could care about, as well as what's going on with the movies these days. Also, a cat knocks Jason's phone off the table.||9/26/2016||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 40)||The Big Trees is NOT a movie about a bunch of murderous trees seeking revenge on the human race. Instead, it is about strip logging. Even the good guys are strip loggers. It is really, really dumb. And Kirk Douglas never stops smiling. This movie is Jason's revenge for having to watch Ice Pirates. He doesn't just get revenge on Todd, but his whole damn family. It's insidious.||8/30/2016||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 39)||The Ice Pirates is a dumb parody movie that Todd likes for some reason. Because Jason is in another state, Todd forces Jason to watch said Ice Pirates with friend of the show Susan Tankersley while he sits quietly by himself, chuckling about how much Jason is going to squirm through this one. Enjoy, folks!||7/18/2016||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 38)||Beach Balls is one of those eighties movies about a bunch of jerks trying to get laid on Venice Beach. It takes place mostly in one room due to a limited budget. Doesn't really matter, because Jason and Todd are here to talk about entirely unrelated nonsense. Have a great summer!||6/24/2016||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 38)||Beach Balls is one of those movies from the 80s about douchebags trying to get laid at Venice Beach. Most of it takes place in one room because it is wildly low budget. It makes Jason kinda mad, but no matter, because there are plenty of unrelated topics of discussion to hassle with while the movie goes. And goes. And goes...||6/24/2016||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 37)||The Tormentors is about a bunch of bikers who do bad, bad things. They are a bunch of jerks, really. Jason and Todd are jerks in their own way, and they make that clear as they yammer about wildly politically incorrect things while equally terrible things happen on the screen in front of them. Jason finds the whole podcast thing distasteful. Todd is okay with it.||5/26/2016||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 36)||Jaws the Revenge is the Jaws movie where the shark got all personal. Science currently says they don't do that, but whatever. Luckily, this movie isn't weighed down by mesmerizing performances by people like Roy Scheider, so Jason and Todd have plenty of down time to talk about themselves. Really, really nice.||4/25/2016||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 35)||Jaws 3 was originally called Jaws 3-D because it was in 3-D but it isn't in 3-D anymore so it is just Jaws 3. Jason saw it in 3-D when it was released in the theater. Todd did not, but he had really wanted to. Doesn't matter, though, because all that matters is the now and we are in the now. Lou Gossett, Jr.!||3/30/2016||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 34)||Ghosts Can't Do It is the actual name of a film that Jason and Todd talk through until suddenly Donald Trump shows up in a cameo and they completely freak out. That's right, your favorite monthly podcast with two guys and a lousy movie is back! Jason reads a poem and rereads last month's short story from Todd's kid. Todd talks about getting old and dying. It's fun!||2/22/2016||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 33)||High Risk is an old movie with a terrible DVD transfer. It's got a dreamy James Brolin, a young Bruce Davison, and the ever wonderful Clevon Little. Doesn't matter though, because Jason is mostly interested in refusing to accept the new Star Wars movie is just okay, and Todd is horribly hungover. For the first time ever in this podcast's history, Todd actually has to go puke. Is it the movie or the Vicodin he took in a vain attempt to make himself feel better? It's a real mystery.||1/15/2016||Free||View in iTunes|

||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 31)||Sheena: Queen of the Jungle is a movie about a white lady who can talk to African animals. She takes a lot of naked showers in a waterfall. It's for kids. Jason and Todd talk all the way through the 80s masterpiece with special guest Susan Tankersley who came all the way across the country with her DVD just to torture the boys. Given that she is the only listener and actually on the podcast, who the hell will actually listen to this?||11/19/2015||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 30)||Cruel Gun Story is the actual name of an actual movie featuring an actual actor who had cheek implants. You read that right. Doesn't matter that much, though, because Jason and Todd talk about internet police, alien invasions, and other pointless nonsense instead of focusing on the movie in front of them. Which is the whole concept of this podcast. Which is not really a concept at all. Which is a word I just started three different sentences with.||10/27/2015||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 29)||The Wicker Man is a movie that was a movie before it was a movie with Nic Cage, but Jason really wanted to watch the Nic Cage one. This may be the happiest Jason has ever sounded, ever. Todd is not as happy because he is recovering from a Sunday bender, but at least he gets to see Cage screaming about cartoon bees. Jason reads a story about zombies and one of his reviews. Todd tries not to puke. This one's for Susan! We love you!||9/30/2015||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 28)||Sword of Justice is a movie with a samurai cop who likes to beat up his unnaturally large junk with heavy rods and whatnot. Doesn't really matter, because Jason reads from Todd's son's horror story, they talk about everything from the use of rape in movies to what Japanese movies they like the best, and then at the end...surprise guest! Listen or get other more important things done.||8/31/2015||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 27)||Island of Death is an absolutely disgusting piece of inhumane garbage, and Jason and Todd sit down to watch every minute of it. In their first ever official segment, Jason reads the work of Todd's son, Colby. It's a horror story about miniature alien people. Also discussed are deeply offensive jokes, bad acting, and thrill kill murderballers. Did we mention that this movie is disgusting?||7/20/2015||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 26)||The Perfect Storm is this episode's journey the boys must take. They talk about their love for William Fichtner, and break down the work of Wolfgang Peterson as well as talk about jet lag and fiction made by children. An hour in, Jason realizes the movie he picked was much too long. Luckily, because of a perfect storm of technical problems, Jason is super happy when they have to cut the movie short...a first for the show!||6/30/2015||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 25)||Terminal Velocity is a movie about skydiving hijinks... Holy crap, we just realized these two yahoos have been doing this idiotic thing for over two years. Wowza! In celebration, Jason and Todd talk about Charlie Sheen, memorials, and one of those Baldwin brothers. But in the end, Todd still can't understand why Jason doesn't love the new Mad Max Movie. Soooooo weird.||5/27/2015||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 24)||Panic in the Year Zero is a very old movie about nuclear devastation in Los Angeles. Basically, a family drives around, stopping at a bunch of stores to stock up for the post-apocalypse. It's right up Todd's alley, but surprisingly was picked by Jason. Doesn't really matter, though, because they mostly talk about other things.||4/24/2015||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode 23)||Jason and Todd talk about the films of Toby Hooper, the wonder of Ted Levine's voice, and the bowel trouble that can be caused by off-brand sugar cereals. They somehow manage do all this while The Mangler, a movie about a killer laundry machine, unfolds before them. If you love listening to the self-indulgence of others for two straight hours, this is the podcast for you!||4/13/2015||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode Twenty-two)||This time, Jason and Todd talk incessantly through the Uwe Boll classic Bloodrayne. Meatloaf has an orgy! Michael Madsen looks glum! And is that...Ghandi?! Doesn't matter, because Jason and Todd really talk about completely unrelated nonsense.||2/25/2015||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode Twenty-one)||Jason and Todd start the new year off with a special picture: Devil In The Flesh 2. Why is it special? Todd is in it. Jason is of course super critical of Todd's performance, and the podcast ends in tears. That's entertainment!||1/27/2015||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode Twenty)||Gamera may be invincible, but Jason and Todd are not. Still, they plow ahead with talking through this old kid-friendly Godzilla rip-off movie, touching on everything from what Jason is looking forward to seeing at the movies in 2015 to Jason's favorite Jack-in-the-Box meal. Todd says stuff, too. Happy holidays!||12/19/2014||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode Nineteen)||There's this movie called Tiptoes. Once the shock of wondering who green lit this thing wears off, you're left with boring. So as it plays out, Jason and Todd wind up talking about Patricia Arquette's hotness, Total Recall, sinuses, and then Jason urges everyone to stop listening to this dumb podcast. But you have to get near the end before he brings that up. Very sneaky.||11/26/2014||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode Eighteen)||Jason and Todd sit down to take in Carnosaur 2, which leads them to discussions about character actors in Los Angeles theater, poorly behaved L.A. Theater patrons, that guy from Tales of the Gold Monkey, and dumb looking dinosaurs. They also manage to remember some names. Which is good for them. They are old.||10/22/2014||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode Seventeen)||This time, Jason and Todd talk through the original seventies version of The Killer Elite. James Caan and Robert Duvall directed by Sam Pekinpah? How could that not be an action fan's dream? It ain't. Jason tortures Todd with this movie from Todd's favorite genre, all while they discuss the state of film, the state of the nation, and probably something about the state of modern sexuality. This is the only podcast about movies with both Jason and Todd in addition to things that have nothing to do with movies. So. Yeah. The only one.||9/17/2014||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode Sixteen)||It's Jason's turn to be tortured by Todd, and Todd gets him good! They sit through more than two hours of Speed 2: Cruise Control, a movie that was supposed to kill the careers of everyone involved (maybe only Sandra Bullock ultimately survived.) They talk about their love for Jason Patrick, the creep factor of sexualized children in Hollywood movies, and why Jason feels like a dung heap. It's enthralling!||9/4/2014||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode Fifteen)||Jason and Todd are back! They missed you as much as you missed them, so they've returned with a special treat. This time, they talk about everything from bad diets to bad CGI while watching Gargoyles: Wings of Darkness. What's so special about that? Well, Jason happens to actually be in the movie. Listen and get ready to have your mind blown! Or at least lulled into a deep and satisfying sleep.||8/20/2014||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode Fourteen)||Did you think they forgot? Oh, no! Just under the wire, here is June's edition of whatever this nonsense is! This time, Jason and Todd talk through a family film called A Dolphin Tale. And as if that's not enough, they are joined by a guest for the first time, Hilary Anderson (she's the one who owns Todd.) Of course, once again deeply inappropriate jokes are made and Jason condemns society because you wouldn't accept anything less. Enjoy!||6/30/2014||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode Thirteen)||There is a Man In the Wilderness, and his name is Richard Harris and he gets mauled by a bear. This is a typically lousy film for Jason and Todd, and they make the best of it by almost completely ignoring what's happening onscreen to discuss parental guidance and the importance of safety helmets. Anyway, it takes a couple hours.||5/16/2014||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode Twelve)||Frost is a movie with vampires, Gary Busey, and long scenes of people talking about nothing while wearing sunglasses at night. It's absolutely unwatchable, and this is why Jason and Todd barely acknowledge the movie. Instead, they discuss other much better movies they like, what kind of porn they like, cookie hangovers, and how getting older is painful and leaves a person crotchety. What more do you want for nothing?||4/9/2014||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode Eleven)||The Western is mostly dead as a genre, and Gone With the West may have something to do with it. Knowing this, Jason and Todd sit down to talk through this James Caan vehicle filled with terrible photography and odd supporting performances. Jason and Todd of course talk about a lot of things that have nothing to do with the movie they are sitting in front of, but you must be expecting that by now. Really.||3/17/2014||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode Ten)||It's the February edition of your favorite really long podcast just in time for March! In this episode, Jason and Todd talk about everything from the Oscars to women's rights issues, all while Steven Seagal in Marked For Death does nothing for them on the television! It's marvelous!||3/7/2014||Free||View in iTunes|

||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode Eight)||In their final podcast for 2013, Jason and Todd give you two and a half hours of talking while Tony Scott's The Last Boy Scout unfolds before them. Jason goes deep, basically blaming the Bruce Willis actioner for the war in Iraq. Todd doesn't get deep at all, instead making wise-ass comments to undermine Jason's passionate diatribe. Also, a secret from Jason's past is revealed. It doesn't really matter, but it is revealed anyway. Happy holidays, everyone!||12/24/2013||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode Seven)||Jason and Todd's biggest (and most likely only) fan, Susan Tankersley sent them a "gift" of sorts in the form of a poorly produced DVD copy of the 1980 fantasy picture, "Hawk the Slayer." It features a massively over-acting Jack Palance, but it really doesn't matter. This movie is so bad, that Jason and Todd ignore most of it in favor of conversation about Doug Stanhope, nuns in cages, and the importance of having a wife. Listen, and fall in love with these two blowhards all over again.||11/14/2013||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode Six)||This time, Jason and Talk get deeply emotional as their friendship bonds grow deeper and psychoses intertwine in an almost terrifying manner. Todd makes intimate personal confessions about his past feelings about Jason. Jason stops to admire the beauty of Todd's eyes. It's all kind of creepy, really. Oh, yeah, and they do all this while a movie about a dog girl on a sex-filled camping trip plays in front of them. It's called The Ruining. And this podcast will be the ruining of your boredom while you commute to work. Assuming your commute is two hours long. And if it is, you might consider moving closer to work. Or changing professions.||10/9/2013||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode Five)||Jason and Todd are back, continuing on their journey through the films of Hollywood power family the Hausers. Cole Hauser stars in Papparazzi, a Mel Gibson produced revenge fantasy. Jason and Todd talk about the wonders of Cole, the horror that is Mel, and then talk about a lot of crap that has nothing to do with the movie. It's a long podcast, but totally worth it. If you are a shut in and have given up all hope.||9/16/2013||Free||View in iTunes|

||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode #3)||Jason and Todd are back, this time talking while Gary Busey is doing his absolute best. Topics covered include a revenge movie nobody has ever heard of, Steven Seagal in Russia, and Jason's garlic poop. Classy stuff, you guys.||6/8/2013||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode #2)||Jason and Todd are back, this time covering subjects ranging from spirituality to make-up effects, all while watching a movie called the "Beastmaster" with that guy Marc Singer. It's pure comedy magic for two and a half hours that breeze by like...I don't know, a breeze that goes by really fast. Whatever.||5/16/2013||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanJason and Todd Talk Through Lousy Films (Episode #1)||Jason and Todd launch their new podcast with the cult classic, C.H.U.D.. For the most part, they don't pay attention to the movie and discuss altercations with crazy people and what it's like to get free stuff from movie studios. But occasionally they are distracted by John Heard.||4/18/2013||Free||View in iTunes|

Let's get this out of the way: Jason and Todd are not MiSTing these movies. Like it says on the box, they are chatting as a terrible movie plays, but you don't really need to watch the movie to be entertained. Sometimes it helps, but it's not required. The movie is a jumping-off point as they tell stories about their experiences in Hollywood, argue about what exactly makes a Bad Movie enjoyable, and occasionally get into some Real Talk about Art. You're probably thinking, "Anyone could do that," but I've listened to a LOT of movie podcasts and a trust me: it's not easy to be this entertaining for 2 hours. I laugh a lot listening to this one.
I spent many years adoring Joe Bob's shows and reviews, and I think this has the same fix of high- and low-brow criticism. It's not pretentious like Certain Other Inexplicably Successful movie podcasts, but the guys definitely aren't dumb, even if the movies they watch are. So within 5 minutes the conversation can shift from riffing on improv classes to an analysis of the Die Hard sequels, and then shift again to the how art should be evaluated.
And in episode 4, Jason threatened to set the country on fire if more people listen, so we need to call his bluff.
This is my favorite podcast! It's just two interesting guys watching bad movies and chatting about all kinds of stuff. Always stimulating and often very funny. Check it out!
Lousy doesn’t mean without merit…completely
However Jason and Todd agonize a given Lousy Film the complaints never feel cheap and at the same time they eagerly appreciate what’s there to be appreciated. I went into The Last Boy Scout episode with hackles pre-raised, recalling the movie fondly and being kind of a Shane Black fan boy besides, but I needn’t have fretted. In between the funny personal asides and professional banter Todd and Jason MORE than gave The Last Boy Scout its due. The lengthy appreciation of Taylor Negron I found particularly winning.
Good dudes, good fun. I look forward to digging into the rest.
