Amazing insight on the Bible

I have been a student of the Bible since I was a student of anything. Reading the Bible is a life changing effort. The Bible project takes my learning to a whole new level. Very creative and entertaining as well.

Inquisitive Reading

There’s a lot I appreciate about this podcast:
-One host acts as a sort of intelligent audience surrogate—his questions guide the conversation helpfully.
-The hosts approach each topic and text with genuine curiosity. And they focus unflinchingly on just the odd or uncomfortable passages that tend to be either passed over or explained away.
-This podcast doesn’t just hand you a Hebrew word or a digestible theological “takeaway” and call it a day. Hebrew and Greek lexicology and history are mined for the rich nuances they can add to our grasp of scripture, even if it takes a lot of work just to overcome our initial modern and overly familiar comprehension of the text.
-To that end, the hosts always provide illuminating parallels to help listeners understand what analogous significance some word, situation, or action would have in our modern context.

I really loved the episodes on “holiness” and “glory.” These are finally no longer near-meaningless words to me. I learned not only some new facets of their meaning and usage, but also related these to my own experiences of things that have “weighty significance and otherness” (kabowd). Holiness isn’t just moral purity and separation from the sacred, but a truly substantial, ultimate reality present wherever God is.
