Great ideas for teachers here

This podcast is a great source for science news and has good ideas for teachers. I just listened to Episode 34 about Gene Therapy, and it helped me think of ways to improve my middle schoolers' understanding of science and inquiry. I want them to start asking better testable research questions, and I'll probably play some of this podcast so they can hear how Dr. Neitz describes his work and career. I'll also show them the related website where there is a discussion of the project and a video of the spider monkey performing the color vision test. This is a great link to our future study of genetics.

science for science teachers

In the virtual digital world there are lots of websites, blogs, and podcasts on science, but few of them focus specifically on science education, and fewer still have their focus specifically on science teachers. Lab Out Loud nicely fills this niche featuring interviews focused around topics that are of interest to science teachers.

Inspiring for a new science teacher

I am in graduate school for science education right now, and I this podcast has been inspiring and informative. I have become aware of so many things that are going on in science education these days that I would not have been exposed to otherwise. The podcast is a great source for learning about blogs, shows, websites, songs, shows, and other resources that are useful to a science teacher.

The hosts are excellent - they do a wonderful job interviewing their guests. They are professional and informative while balancing this with a good sense of humor.

The variety of topics is outstanding, touching on many different areas of science and education. I feel well informed after listening to a bunch of these podcasts.

I found out about this podcast in an NSTA email, and I have been hooked ever since I listened to the first episode about a month ago. I plan on continuing to listen to this excellent podcast.
