On Let’s Get Real Chef Erica Wides walks you down the aisles of the surreal world of food, serving up a heaping dose of reality by separating the food from the foodiness so you can forage, hunt, gather, trap and fish for real food anywhere, even in a foodiness-filled mega market. Incisive, pragmatic, sarcastic, and an unrepentant know-it-all when it comes to anything food, on Let’s Get Real Chef Erica Wides does the job for you of sifting out everything that’s fake in the world of food – from “foodiness” marketing and cooking show shams to “health-halo green-washing” and annoying whole-food righteousness – so you never unknowingly chow down on carpeting again.

I stopped by Roberta's in Brooklyn to find out who had built out the two shipping containers behind the bar into an awesome tiny structure only to find out it was the radio station for the Heritage Radio Network. I went online to find out more about them and came across this show (they have other great food-related shows as well).
The show is a great way to get more connected to your food and how to cook it. Erica mixes just the right amount of food history, trivia and food science together to make the show interesting, along with tips on cooking and how and why different foods are used.
Definitely worth 5 stars.

Bring back the old show Erica!

I really liked Erica Wides old show, but Let's Get Real is just the same thing over and over with a different food backdrop. Erica Wides has a lot of cooking knowledge and it was great getting her political ideas interspersed within a lot of information about cooking. Now it just seems all political and no cooking. I sorely miss the old show and have a hard time listening to this. It tends to get boring.

Bring back the old show!

I started listening to Erica Wides when her podcast was called "Why we Cook", and it was fantastic. Lots of really quality food & cooking information. It made me want to get into the kitchen and cook. I went into the archives and listened to every single episode & would like to listen to them all again. The new show - "Let's Get Real", not so great. It's more about politics, random personal stories & trying to sell her show to get famous than actual food. And really nothing to do with cooking. I miss the old show, and I've finally unsubscribed from this podcast.
