Fiction, in the style of Serial
I'm a bit torn on this, as I can't say whether I like it or not given the first episode. The idea of doing fiction in an investigate-journalism format is interesting, but I have some issues with the execution. The host for one is aping Sarah Koenig in obvious ways. Worse for me though is the scripting and voice acting of the supporting characters, which is at times distractingly unrealistic. In the end though I was left intrigued and will give it another episode.
As an avid listener of podcast interviews, I wasn’t sure how I would take to a fictional podcast, but the first episode sucked me in. This isn’t a fictional book on tape. This is pure, engaging fictional entertainment with high production value. How long do I have to wait for episode two???…I’m hooked.
It’s not quite as good as Nightvale or The Black Tapes Podcast, but it’s promising!
