I gave them a chance, you should too... Or maybe I'll punch you in the esophagus.

I never thought listening to criticism about books I was unfamiliar with could be so entertaining. With a familiar voice from my childhood Rider Strong drew me in and introduced me to a wonderful group of intelligent people I had never heard but whose opinions I easily appreciated! I'm excited to hear more!

The Porridge of Book Podcasting - Just Right

I heard about this podcast through the forums over at Books on the Nightstand (which is also great) and gave it a try... and I'm in love. The tone of this show is just right for me. It's smart, but not highfalutin. It's conversational but not in an inside-baseball kind of way. And its friendly: Tod, Julia, and Rider are clearly friends and they obviously make each other laugh and respect each others' opinions. It makes for fun listening that has made me laugh out loud awkwardly on public transportation (the Sweet Valley High episode was the culprit... may I suggest that a Harlequin romance novel get the same Literary Disco treatment?).

All this to say... if you dig book podcasting, definitely give this a listen.

We get it - you're smart!

Pretentious and not funny. I listen to a lot of podcasts on literature, but this one is unlistenable. I gave it a shot - about ten episodes, but I don't see the appeal. I randomly picked an episode today to give the podcast another shot to hear Tod say when Ryan Seacrest interviewed the Olympic athletes, he wanted to take a sh** on his television. Later they were talking about David Benioff, the Creator of the Game of Thrones HBO show and how although that was great, he also produced Troy and Wolverine which were not good movies. This coming from someone who starred in Cabin Fever and Penthouse. Ever heard of those gems.
I can listen to inane banter if there is eventually going to be a book recommendation that interests me, but out of 10 episodes, I have not taken their recommendation for any books. Just not for me.
