So Worth It

I'm so glad I caught the inaugural episode of Literary Roadhouse.

At the time I came across the link I was busy but decided, "what the heck," and clicked it anyway. I had no idea what to expect and, honestly, did not have high hopes. Just between you and me, I see literary fiction coming, I run the other way!

Truly the show was fun and interesting, for several reasons:

* The show is hosted by four unique individuals with strong opinions and a desire to dive in and understand the story, freely discussing, questioning, and explaining things, which - in turn - engages listeners. You'll find yourself questioning, agreeing, disagreeing, wondering, and gaining understanding. I was determined not to learn anything, but I did - I did learnt! Heh-heh.

* The hosts do, indeed, make literary fiction fun. I know because I pretty much steer clear of literary fiction, yet I truly enjoyed the show. The fact that I'll be tuning in next week is proof! ;-)

* They actually took a moment to read the short story, in case listeners did not read it prior to the show. I, for one, enjoyed this immensely! (Who'd of thunk?) And I do so hope this is a part of each show. *fingers crossed*

All in all, the show was a surprise and a joy. A total success (if you ask me). When it ended, I felt very glad that I took the time to check it out. It was so worth it.

Oh, and hey, bonus!: Maya is a wonderful narrator. I don't know if every show will have a reading of the short story being discussed (as this episode did); or if there is a reading, Maya will be the narrator; but if they do and she does, it's a real treat.

I hope they do and I hope she does! ;)

"...On with the show, this is it!"

P.S. I gave Literary Roadhouse 4 STAR, but it feels more like 4.5 STARS. I could see it becoming 5 STARS. After all, they've only just begun! :o)
