In a world where gut feelings are given more authority than facts, where the average person is permitted to drive 2 tons of steel death, and ‘God did it’ is an acceptable answer to why something happened, your life may just depend on listening to this podcast. The LogicallyCritical podcast is intended to encourage critical thinking in everyday situations without the hassle of checking facts at the library. Rather than quote historical research or bore you with statistics about how many dentists suggest what cigarette to their patients, this will use information that we can all reasonably agree on, and will show by example how to more-fully explore any given issue be it traffic, religion, or how to lure a weasel into a cardboard box. The podcast is no longer being actively produced (10/28/07), but the episodes are still available.

In a class by itself
This is a wonderful podcast for anyone feeling lost in a world that seems to swimming in plain old bad thinking. So many times I have made many of these same arguments myself- although never so eloquently or witty. The intellectual quality of our host's ideas are solidily based in research, logic, and the common sense so lacking in today's society. All delivered with a subtle wit and a wry sense of humor. This podcast is truly a gem and I look forward to new episodes. Tell your friends.
A Buffet for the Mind
Sometimes the issues of the day can be very confusing. After hearing several sides of a story, even the most skeptical among us find it difficult to unweave the distortions and filter out the noise. Like a trompe l’oeil painting, if you could only find the right angle, everything might become clear. This podcaster has that angle. Logically Critical is a thoroughly entertaining podcast focused on exploring a variety of topics with a critical eye – a logically critical eye. Laced with wry humor and a touch of irony, these podcasts unwrap issues and expose their core, often times leaving you with the feeling of discovery. It is refreshing to hear a voice, a cross between Will Rogers and Hee Haw’s Grandpa, that illuminates some of the darker corners of our culture, beliefs, and … uhh … fairy tales. These are not brow-beating, you-must-see-things-my-way, partisan discussions…they’re invitations to explore different facets of an argument. If you’re open minded, you’ll walk away very satisfied, even if you don’t agree with the podcaster. However, if you’re the close minded type, BEWARE…you’ll suffer a bit from a mental can-opener! The topics range from current issues (e.g. illegal immigration and legalization of drugs) to offbeat subjects. When was the last time you wondered how fairy-tales affect today’s kids or what skill sets would be needed after the near extinction of mankind? Obviously there’s a few things the author has wanted to get off his chest! But they make for worthwhile listening nonetheless. Some have said these podcasts are funny and informative. Funny they are because there’s always a few unexpected quips that cause me to spew Dr. Pepper out of my nostrils while driving, generally when the driver ahead has finally decided to check her rear-view mirror. And they’re informative, but only from the point of view that examining something from a different perspective can be informative. I don’t think it’s the author’s intention to provide you with a lot of facts and statistics. You can find those yourself with “the Google”. With a cast of homegrown characters and a variety of sound effects, this one-man show is very well done and a fine example of using this new media as an artistic and enlightening forum. Take a listen or two. Eat from the buffet of enlightenment. You might find yourself coming back to fill your plate over and over again.
Highly entertaining. This is a must listen!!
