This is a podcast by appliance techs for appliance techs.

Your hosts: Samurai Appliance Repair Man and Mrs. Samurai.

We discuss topics of interest to professional appliance techs: news about the Samurai Tech Academy and Appliantology.org; news from around the appliance industry, especially as it affects the appliance service; tech tips where we’ll discuss a topic either that a listener requests or that we select based on what we see our students and Brethren in the Craft struggle with. Topics include loading meters and when to use them, voltage vs. voltage drop, tools, and lots of other tech talk topics.

The Samurai Tech Academy offers cost-effective, comprehensive, up-to-date training for appliance techs, both rookies and seasoned veterans. Check out the Academy’s career-enhancing courses at http://mastersamuraitech.com

Appliantology.org is a community of appliance techs who help each other solve problems and enjoy talking shop. We also have a huge (and growing!) library of service manuals and tech sheets that members can download. We’re always adding new manuals and tech sheets on request.

Master Samurai Tech Radio, Episode 29: Will AI take over appliance repair jobs?

Triage tools for appliance repair service calls are all the rage today. Whether based on a frequent parts replacement database or more sophisticated database queries and constructs using AI, there's lots of talk about these products.

Team Samurai weighs in on this topic to discuss the proper and improper use of these tools. In the hands of a skilled tech, they can be a time saver. But triage tools cannot make a skilled tech out of PCMs. Lots of nuances to this topic so listen in.

In this Live Dojo, the assembled brethren from Appliantology Monday Morning Quarterbacked a problem a tech was facing on a Whirlpool refrigerator and failed to fix. Turned out the problem was a loading down of the DC power supply caused by a wet evaporator fan motor. We talked about how he could have identified this as an issue and some general SOPs to follow when faced with this issue.
