Fresh look through a modern lens

I have listened to the first 2 longer episodes and I am hooked and this is really saying something as I’ve mainly avoided movies about war throughout my life, but I’m feeling more and more these days that one shouldn’t shy away from these topics as war is constant and as was mentioned in the 2nd episode, these themes could be useful for troops coming home even now. I’m especially appreciating the themes of gender both on screen and behind the scenes as I know I have been put off in watching in the past because I can’t bear the 2 dimensional portrayals of Women but I think these discussions will help me acknowledge that it is frustrating and then put this aside in order to appreciate the movies as a whole. Can’t wait for the next installment!

Regular listener

I listen to every episode and the accompanying “mini-sodes.” This is a fantastic marriage between historical analysis and film criticism, a must-listen for any WWII history/film buff. As a WWII history enthusiast I naturally gravitate toward films on the subject and had seen every movie discussed prior to the podcast release. The podcast was a great reason to rewatch and revisit these films and often I saw things differently following the discussions. Made many aspects of the movies new and I learned quite a few things I didn’t know before. Highly recommend this to any history/film buff.

Highly recommended!

I highly recommend this podcast to anyone interested in WWII and its history. I particularly enjoy the minisodes and being able to hear the oral histories from those that were there at the actual events. Can’t wait to hear more of this great podcast. Thank you all for your continued work in preserving our history.
