Description

Mission Log is a Roddenberry Entertainment podcast with the sole purpose of exploring the Star Trek universe one episode at a time. That’s right, this podcast will cover six different series and 30 seasons of television by journeying into every one of the 726 episodes with a single mission: to explore, debate and discuss one of the largest science fiction phenomena of all time, Star Trek. Starting with The Original Series’ initial pilot and continuing chronologically until we reach the last episode of Star Trek: Enterprise, each week our hosts, Ken Ray and John Champion, will tackle a single episode, delving into the most historical and hysterical science fiction that Star Trek has to offer. Along with a variety of guests and interviews, Mission Log will attempt to reach Star Trek’s ethical subtext, understand it’s complex metaphors and finally figure out what was the trouble with those tribbles. Explore strange new details. Seek out new perspectives; deeper understandings. Boldly go where so many of us love to go, again and again. Join us for Mission Log!

An Important Podcast

This may be as close as we'll ever get to a perfect Star Trek podcast in the book club format. The scope is ambitious, the episodes appear weekly like clockwork (gold in podcasting), the banter is funny without being obnoxious, the themes discussed are carefully thought through, and listeners regularly make significant contributions. Once you've caught up, you'll have something to look forward to every week without fail for the next several years, because these guys are going all the way through all the film/tv trek in existence one bite at a time, one week at a time. Great content, slightly annoying trappings

The discussions themselves are very good and in-depth, so they're not just retreading old ground. I think they still have a little way to go before they perfect their rapport and whatnot, but it's very early in the series so that can certainly change.

My only complaint so far is that the synth voice they use for transitions is VERY annoying and distracting. I figure they're trying to mimic the computer's voice, but I think they should find an alternative. Like I said, a very minor gripe.

Enjoyable first episode! More please!

One down, and I hope many, many more to go. Enjoyed the Star Trek episode discussion between the two hosts. Please continue the podcast - I'll be listening.
