Danny Lobell of Comical Radio and This American Life is back once again. This time, he's diving head first into philosophy (a subject he knows little about) with fellow comedians (Marc Maron, Artie Lange, Maria Bamford, Lewis Black, Greg Fitzsimmons, Larry Miller, Reggie Watts etc.) and attempting to find the answers to life's great questions. Even if the questions just lead to more questions, there will be many laughs in between. You can listen and decide: Are comedians really "modern day philosophers"?

Customer Reviews

Hilarious, interesting, talented Mr. Danny Lobell

I feel really lucky because I literally discovered Danny Lobell's comic stylings like 3 weeks ago. So I have been going through the episodes on his old podcast Comical Radio and thinking where did this guy go? He's got an original mind and can tell a really good, funny, interesting story! Then
I find this advertisement/heads up appear on this old podcast list suddenly dated today or whenever and it's like wow that's cool just in time as I'm getting down to the end of these old podcasts! This new venture looking at philosophy with comics is a really cool idea! So glad to be able to catch up with Danny and get to have a timely view rather than a re-run view of his comedic take on life!!

Not As Advertised

I think this is a great idea for a podcast, but after listening to a couple episodes I was surprised by how little the host knows about philosophy. Don't get me wrong, I think he could be a good host with a little more preparation. Maybe I just caught the wrong episodes. The Sartre episode was especially painful.

I have my MA in philosophy and was very excited to see this podcast listed. Great concept: comedians learning about academic philosophy. I was thinking Richard Lewis and Larry David discussing Heidegger. But that wasn't reflected in the content of this podcast. For the hour plus, they talked about philosophy for a very very short time. Spent the majority of the show doing improv bits about haunted houses and other random things. Comedians discussing philosophy is a brilliant concept. Hope this podcast will evolve because it's really a great idea.
