Love this - intelligent, funny, and totally entertaining
Like a mini film school on my electronic device
Dan and Thomas put on a great podcast. The content is bar none: their insights into movies and the craft of filmmaking are poignant, intelligent, and timely. The delivery is excellent: Dan and Thomas find the intersection of Wit Street and Heart Drive and park there for the length of the show. And at the end of every show, I feel like I've learned something new about the directors or the screenwriters or the industry in general... like a mini film school on my electronic device.
Highly recommend this podcast!
That's not a podcast...THIS is a podcast.
Come for the critic vs. critic smackdown, stay for the cinematic insight.
Thomas and Dan were likely conceived in the back row of a theater during a screening of Blade Runner, or at the very least born in the projection booth of a movie house specializing in back-to-back screenings of the collected works of Andrei Tarkovsky and John McTiernan. Not only do they have an excellent eye for the principles behind filmmaking, exploring why some movies work while others don't, but they're able to articulate it and invite the rest of us to analyze the films we love. Listen to one episode, and you'll learn new things about a movie or director you've always (or never) loved.
The best thing about the Moviemakers Podcast is at the end of the day these guys are fans who love going to the movies just as much as the rest of us. When they love a movie, you'll know it from their excitement. And when they're disappointed, you'll definitely know (even if that movie is a cinematic treasure like The Goonies).
Check it out. You'll dig it.
