Description

Welcome to Naturally Supernatural, the podcast for those who believe in the full, modern manifestation of the Holy Spirit but who don't fit into the stereotypical mold of a "Charismatic." This is the place for people who have come from Charismatic/Pentecostal backgrounds and love the Holy Spirit but hate the nonsense, or people from other traditions who have been on the fence because of the negative stereotypes they have heard or been taught or seen. I'm looking at you Christian television. We're your hosts, Darren Hibbs and Caleb Harper.

It's good to be uncomfortable sometimes

I think it will be a healthy addition to most people's diet. If you're looking to hear a perfect word from a perfect person, you'll have to keep looking. But, if you want an informed Bible-rich discussion that gives fair consideration to differing perspectives in a non-threatening environment, then listen further. Coming from a solid non-charismatic background, I was just waiting for him to push "too far." It didn't happen. I won't expect to agree with everything on the podcast. But, I'll be coming back to learn more on both sides of this important Church discussion.

Love to Listen

Good Work

I love the way that you try to bridge the gap between the Charismatic and the cessationist. I have walked in both worlds and the excesses of each seem to harm the cause of Christ, which is what we should all be trying to further.

While I may not agree with everything said about prophecy and will have to mull over some things, I think you made reasonable arguments from Scripture. I especially like the concepts you brought out about modern prophecy is not canon, but more for the practical, every day living out of the Christian life. In my mind, the canon of Scripture is the over arching principles that are timeless and immutable, coming from the very nature and perfection of God, while what you are terming as prophecy is not necessarily universal, but specific to the individual in his life situation. It cannot violate Scripture, but will provide practical application in line with the principles found there.

That being said, I think my problem with prophecy is how those who claim "thus smith The Lord" can be very arrogant about their being "right". I feel there needs to be a certain humbleness whenever one tries to represent God like that. We are all human and sometimes we think we hear from God, when it is a random thought, or maybe even the enemy whispering in our ear. Those who claim to have a prophecy should do due diligence to make sure that what they are about to proclaim lines up with God's word and to try to discern that it is truly God's Spirit speaking to them.

I can't wait to see what you guys do with tongues!

Oh, and the Charismatic Lexicon is great too! In my mind the whole thing of this spirit or that spirit is simply way overblown!

Again, great work!
