She comes armed with passion and personal experience, and opens up greater conversation about mental health because the more people talking about it, the more attention it gets and more it gets taken out of the darkness. When Brett was 6 years old, she was diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome and severe ADHD. This caused her to struggle through her entire school years with not only her grades but also her relationships and many other areas of her life. When she was 17 years old, she was also diagnosed with anxiety, OCD and panic disorder. This has caused Brett to encounter many barriers as she grew into an adult and business woman. Outside of work, Brett was involved in 2 serious motor vehicle accidents in 2012. She was off from work for almost 1 full year from injuries and has continued to push forward even with her current injuries and severe chronic pain as a result of these accidents. She lived to learn that this doesn't have to be disabling and activated a power that she may not have found without it. Now she shares her empowerment and experiences to educate others, stop the stigma and give others struggling confidence in their own challenges. Having a mental health challenge or disability does not mean that we are broken. Through professional speaking, hosting her TV and radio show, writing her book, providing seminars and coaching, creating her mental health clothing line, Brett has inspired thousands of people dealing with struggles to fit in, feel 'normal,' and overcome the barriers in their lives by rocking their challenges. She has two goals: Build awareness for mental health and instil a sense of pride in those dealing with mental health challenges and disabilities. Why? Because she has first-hand experience with overcoming the frustrations, embarrassment, anxiety, depression and loneliness that often accompanies mental health challenges and disabilities. She is endorsed by the Canadian Mental Health Foundation as a Mental Health Advocate, and is Mental Health First Aid Certified. Most helpful mental health podcast I've encountered

Brett Francis seems to know what she's talking about, and she takes a rational approach to mental health. I think she gives good advice and good interpretations of research about mental health. I like the flow of the podcast; they keep it focused and intersting.
