Shines Bright Like a Diamond

A lot of podcasts take themselves too seriously. Lesley Shannon and Elise Sievert take themselves just seriously enough; more importantly, they take their community seriously and have given us a podcast that is a pleasure to listen to because of its "fly on the wall" casual demeanor. It's as if you're seated at a dinner table sans the clinking together of pretentious silverware beneath the low murmur of Brahams or Beethoven, one in which everyone gets along and wants to know something about one another. When you listen to an episode, you make a new friend every time, and you learn about a variety of interesting things along the way. You come for the conversation, and what stays with you is a wealth of insight into the myriad forms of madness that plague us as creators –– and that wealth helps us to shine brightly in the dirt. Or shine like dirt.
