||CleanBasketball Box Score Mystery||Can Steve Ballmer identify a famous basketball game purely by the numbers? Can you? That's our fun and enlightening challenge on this new episode of the Numbers Geek podcast, featuring the former Microsoft CEO and current owner of the L.A. Clippers. With cameos by Stephen A. Smith, Steve Kerr and Sue Bird. We’ve given Steve multiple pages of statistics from a specific legendary NBA game -- a box score showing the scoring by quarter plus a bunch of other numbers about the game and players. But the stats we’ve given him are missing some very important details. We’ve removed all references to the teams and players, and taken away everything except the numbers. Follow along with Steve to see if you can figure it out before he does.||1/4/2019||Free||View in iTunes|
||CleanUnderestimated: Arlan Hamilton and the new numbers of equality||Arlan Hamilton looks at the number of startup investments going to companies run by women, people of color and LGBT entrepreneurs, and doesn’t just see disparity, or inequity. Another solid podcast coming from the crew at GeekWire in Seattle. The podcast brings forth the idea of using numbers and data to make sound decisions in politics and life. Definitely a show to add to your podcast library.
Great narration and thought-provoking numbers
I use numbers all the time from work to my personal budget. It's interesting to hear how so many different kinds of numbers are not what you expect and the additional questions they prompt. For the data-driven, this is a must listen! I only wish I had Steve Ballmer's energy!
Keep it up!
Kudos to Bishop and Ballmer in their efforts to bring real numbers to emotional debates about everything from immigration to fiscal policy. We all need more data to counteract the irresponsible rhetoric that inflames the country. Impossible to have reasoned debate without agreement on the facts.
