Nutritionally Speaking was founded in 2009 by Michaela Ballmann while she was a Master’s student at Loma Linda University, California. She started the podcast in order to answer common questions and dispel myths regarding nutrition, whether about the latest craze in trendy diets and supplements or just about what to eat. She noticed that too many people get all or the majority of their nutrition information from television, the internet, testimonials, or friends and family who are passing on what they have heard or read. Her podcast has been broadcasting the truth about nutrition, covering topics such as green tea, high fructose corn syrup, and omega-3 fatty acids. Incorporating mindfulness and compassion, she discusses topics such as intuitive eating, body image, and disordered eating. In addition, she calls into question conventional viewpoints on weight and body size and their relation to health.

Cutting edge science communicated right!

I really enjoy listening to this podcast. The host really have a talent for making hard facts from recent scientific studies easily available and entertaining. The format of the podcast is great, and I have gotten great insight into topics in every episode. You will definitely learn something new. More importantly, compared to other podcast, this one is more trustworthy. You will not be served any facts not sourced from scientific research.

I never realized that by mindfully eating, I can actually loose weight. This is a wonderful podcast. I am rethinking my approach to eating.

Solid information we can use!

Michaela Ballmann is stellar and solid in the highly reputable, evidence-based information she brings to this podcast. I lost 80 pounds and have kept it off for several years, having struggled with binge eating for 5+ decades. So, I'm a bit world-weary when it comes to quackery and food-fads of every stripe; *believe* me - I've heard 'em ALL! With her solid foundation in nutrition and wise discernment in the credibility and usefulness of the concepts, approaches, and guests she presents, Michaela decidedly brings you news you can USE! You've probably heard the rantings of non-credentialed but exceedingly well-networked and promoted hacks and quacks. They may even partner with fellow quacksters touting other off-the-wall, latest-thing-down-the-pike, diet-du-jour products and programs, guaranteed to access that hole in your wallet and drain it dry. These people splash around in pseudo-science and creative, though unsubstantiated, theories and flog you with them as gospel.

Embrace a philosophy and a strategy you can live with, something that won't sabotage your health or require you to adopt an isolating, unworkable eating-and-exercising lifestyle...listen to this podcast.
