Description

The Offbeat Oregon History Podcast is a thrice-weekly service from the Offbeat Oregon History newspaper column. Each Monday, Wednesday and Friday, a strange-but-true story from Oregon's history from the archives of the column is uploaded. An exploding whale, a few shockingly scary cults, a 19th-century serial killer, several very naughty ladies, a handful of solid-brass con artists and some of the dumbest bad guys in the history of the universe. Source citations are included with the text version on the Web site at http://offbeatoregon.com.

Fascinating Stories

A set of stories that you probably haven't heard yet, all about Oregon History. I suspect that all states have interesting stories to tell, but Oregon is relatively new and raw, so its stories are closer to the present than you might think. Try them even if you don't live in Oregon. You will enjoy them.

I just wanted to add to this review. The longer I listen the more I like it. I've gone through all of the old shows by now, and this is definitely a winner. If I have any of them available, they are the first podcasts I listen to.

Holy Cow!

I'm not a native Oregonian. Moved to to Oregon in 2004 and have been hunting for good Oregon stories ever since. This podcast is a Godsend! Fascinating stories that not only inform the listener but inspire road trips. Highly recommended!

A treasure!

I just found this podcast and I found like I won the lottery. Well written, these stories of my beloved Oregon come to life within the engaging voice of the narrator. Bravo!
