The Peabody Award-winning On the Media podcast is your guide to examining how the media sausage is made. Hosts Brooke Gladstone and Bob Garfield examine threats to free speech and government transparency, cast a skeptical eye on media coverage of the week’s big stories and unravel hidden political narratives in everything we read, watch and hear. WNYC Studios is a listener-supported producer of other leading podcasts including Radiolab, Snap Judgment, Death, Sex & Money, Nancy and Here’s the Thing with Alec Baldwin. © WNYC Studios

Omphaloskepsis at its snarky finest

After This American Life, probably the best podcast out there. Hosts Bob Garfield and Brooke Gladstone dissect the media-week’s preoccupations and pretensions with rare verve. Features include etymologies of conspicuously noisome buzzwords, incestuously self-perpetuating media fixations (like the supposedly 50,000 child predators on the loose) and occasional dispatches from underreported sections of this planet. The sensibility of the program is more redolent of the Daily Show than Reliable Sources or Charlie Rose. The particular genius of On the Media is its pursuit of the uncomfortable and the complex with a sensibility alive to hypocrisy and non sequitur. The hosts’ interviews often crackle with tension as a newspaper editor or politician realizes the sound bite he prepared is going to crumple and die under determined questioning. Don’t miss it.

Brilliant Media Analysis!

A wonderful show about the way you get your news. Expect a look at where the week’s new comes from, not just what it is. Hear relevant, timely, and riveting stories of the news as it is crafted for your consumption.

What podcasting is for

This is the Podcast I most look forward to each week. It is some of the most interesting radio available; relevant to all of us and beyond necessary in our media driven culture. I'm so glad i don't have to miss it if i don't happen to be home when it's on NPR. Highly recommended.
