We are about to watch the New York Yankees face the Oakland Athletics in a one-game elimination death match. Yay. Naturally, we decided to do a podcast to sum up our feelings on the Wild Card game, as well as the 2nd half of the season. Also naturally, we invited former Pinstripe Alley writer and current Cut4 contributor Andrew Mearns back on the PahSahp. Was this just an opportunity for Kunj and I to yell “MEARNS!” all PahSahp long. I’m not saying it was, but I’m not not saying that as well. We discuss what the Yankees managed to accomplish this year and what they have to look forward to in the playoffs. Of course, the thing we all have to look forward to is drinking and pain and hopefully some excitement mixed in. Of course, we all decide to give our Yankees and Mitres of the second half, because that’s what we do. The answers will probably not shock you, to be honest. Especially the Mitres.

We’re back. The 1st half of the 2018 season is over. Our beloved New York Yankees finished the season with the 2nd best record in the majors. Unfortunately, we are currently 4.5 games behind the team with the best record in the majors. You know who they are. No need to sully this PahShap paragraph with their name. Greg & Kunj are hear to discuss what went right, what went wrong, and the Home Run Derby controversy. Oh, you weren’t aware of it? No worries, because that’s what we’re hear for. The good news is that not much went wrong. Again, 2nd best record in the majors. A lot went right. Did you know the Giancarlo Stanton is a New York Yankee? No worries, because that’s what we’re hear for. Finally, Greg & Kunj give their Yankee and Mitre of the 1st half. There weren’t many Mitre’s to choose from, so perhaps you’ll guess them. It’s good to be back.

Greetings greetings to one and all. Another episode of the PahSahp graces your lives with the sweet, soothing sounds of Greg and Kunj. There was plenty to discuss this episode. Gary Sanchez is mired in a miserable slump. That is sad. However, Didi Gregorius has seemingly bounced out of his slump. That is happy. Of course, we also discuss how Masahiro Tanaka will be out for a month. This is sad. Due to this, Jonathan Loaisiga will be making his debut tonight against the Tampa Bay Rays. This is happy. Well, it might be sad. We’ll have to wait until tonight to find out. Also, we get into the discussion of realignment, the playoff structure, the wild card, and potential pitchers we could acquire during the trade deadline. Oh, and the draft. That also happened. Plus, as always, the Yankee and Mitre of the week. Good times galore.

The Pinstripe Alley Podcast returns after a week off. Kunj Shah returns from his vacation and gives us all the details on the meat he ate. All of the meat. After the meat talk, we finally get into to all the good things and bad that have been going on with the New York Yankees. Case in point, Luis Severino has transcended his limitation and transformed into the legendary Super Saiyan. Has Austin Romine done the same? That might be a stretch. And by stretch, I mean that Shah just gave me the dirtiest look for even suggesting it. Also, we discuss who is currently slumping, like Giancarlo Stanton and Gary Sanchez. Slumping does not describe other players, like my boy Brett Gardner, who is gritty, gutty, and on fire. Plus, as always, the Yankee and Mitre of the Week. Some choices were more difficult than others. It’s good to be back.

We tend to bring up Robinson Cano a lot on the PahSahp, so it would be wrong of us not to discuss his latest developments. We didn’t really want to, but we’re professionals. Yes, consummate professionals be we. We’re certainly not totally goofballs or anything like that. Nope. In addition to the sad news about Cano, we talk about the slump of Sir Didi Gregorius, the promotion of Clint Frazier, and the fact that Sonny Gray pitching to Austin Romine does not mean Gray will actually pitch well. Also, it turns out that winning series after series after series after series after series after series after series is actually a sound strategy for winning the division. As of the record of this PahSahp, the Yankees had not lost a single game. Loyal PahSahpees will know that we always like to lead off with the bad. Loyal Yankee fans will know that there was really nothing bad to talk about this week. The Yankees have been playing incredible, inconceivable baseball right now. They had a nine-game winning streak, lost a game to the World Series defending Houston Astros, then went on an eight-game winning streak before that came to an end last night. The worst thing we talk about are the Mets, because oh boy did the Mets pull a peak Metsing. So what did we even talk about? Well, Neil Walker’s bat is coming alive. Domingo German pitched a gem. Greg Bird is starting his rehab and he should be back up soon. CC Sabathia says that he will probably retire if the Yankees win it all this year. Gleyber Torres looks very comfortable on defense and offense. All that, plus the Yankee and Mitre of the week, even though it wasn’t easy selecting a Mitre. It’s hard to choose a Mitre when the team does not lose. These Yankees are good and fun.
