There is a highly unique and interesting view a person gets from standing on a stage and looking out over an audience. It’s a microcosm of the world a performer sees. Sara Hickman has stood on a stage for most of her life and the audience has listened to her heart play out in her songs, her words and her laughter. She has an amazing ability to connect with literally anyone. When she is sitting across a microphone from another performer or writer or Senator she innately understands how to reach their innermost thoughts. Because she simply makes them comfortable. And that comfort level translates into the mist interesting conversations. Studio of the Future is Sara’s way of sharing the conversations she has with some of the most interesting people in the world. She dives into the creative process with singer/songwriters like Eliza Gilkyson and Terri Hendrix and writers like Sara Bird. She dives into politics with the likes of Senator Kirk Watson of Texas. She is unafraid and unabashed. She smart, funny and zany. Sometimes all in the same sentence. Sara has had a wonderful career on the stages of America and she was honored for it by being named Official State Musician of Texas. Right next to Willie Nelson and Lyle Lovett. Now she brings that talent to Studio of the Future. Listen and be hooked.
Interviews aren't easy. To do it right, you first have to be educated about the topic or subject. Then -- and this is so important -- you have to open yourself to learning and gaining insight right there on the spot, and projecting that insight to the audience. Sara Hickman does all this and more. She truly feels her way through these back-and-forth interviews, and as a result, she makes us feel, too. I love her work!
