Slow Moving and Dull

As a big Blackhawk fan who grew up listening to Pat Foley on the radio and watching the Savard/Larmer/Wilson teams from the 80’s, I wanted to find a podcast to keep me up to date on the Hawks. While the hockey content is adequate and can easily be found in other podcasts, the negative, cynical and monotone nature of this podcast make it barely listenable. I tried listening to a couple of podcasts in order to provide a benefit of doubt, but I did not feel that it changed my initial opinion. The hosts quite often refer to poor players as meatballs and I cannot help but think they are truly the meatballs of the hockey podcasting world.

"Meatballs of the hockey podcasting world"

That about explains it. I blame Pat.

Take it or leave it

With a title like "Puckin Hostile" and from reading the description of the podcast, you should expect this to be an abrasive podcast. The guys are knowledgeable about hockey (although one tends to just agree with whatever opinion the main host takes). However, the guys tend to take a cynical and pessimistic attitude toward every topic. Sometimes that is appropriate (and occasionally pretty funny) but tends to get old during a 2 hour podcast. This may be the perfect podcast for some, but definitely is not for everyone. I titled this review as "Take it or leave it" because I feel that's kind of the attitude of the show. It's two guys who do the podcast for their own enjoyment and if you enjoy it too, that's a bonus. But they're not too concerned with pretending to be radio show hosts.
