Welcome to the podcast about global LGBTI human rights! For LGBTI people all over the world, this is a remarkable moment — both making unprecedented progress and facing violent backlash at the very same time. On Radio Free Qtopia, we’ll share the stories of people working, often in the most unexpected of places, to make their communities and countries more welcoming for all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Shining a spotlight on important activists
Radio Free Qtopia is amazing! It has introduced me to bold, energetic activists in the LGBTQI community about whom I didn't know, and the podcast interview length offers ample time to learn about each guest's contributions/body of work and gives them a chance to share their vision and perspective on their activism.
Inspiring stories from the frontlines of activism!
I have listened to all 7 of the podcasts produced so far! In each one, I am surprised and inspired to hear the diverse stories of LGBQTI activism around the world. Each activist featured faces daunting circumstances in their work for gender equality, but each explains their path through this important work with humor, humility, and yet an urgency about the peril faced by their communities in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America. As a knowledgeable and skillful host, Ian Lekus is able to guide one activist guest per podcast through the background of their struggle, how they became involved, how their work has progressed, as well as how it affects them personally. With each episode, I feel I have a front row seat to the international gender equality revolution!
