Tentatively The "Best" Lectionary Podcast

The Reading in Church podcast is informative and incredibly fun to listen to. Dr. Wallace and Dr. McKeever are a dynamic duo with plenty of jokes for every situation. Reading in Church goes beyond the surface of the passages in the lectionary and puts context to them. I find myself wanting to rewind so I can listen to parts over again. This podcast is a must listen, and for better or worse, it will widen and deepen your understanding of the Bible.

I love that this podcast emphasizes thematic connections between Old Testament and New Testament. It gives new depth to the lectionary and to the broader themes of the story of God. The way that Mike and Rob discuss scripture addresses practical theology without sacrificing any depth of biblical scholarship, and their humor throughout allows me to feel a part of the conversation. As an Old Testament scholar and a student in divinity school, this podcast is an essential part of my week and has become a type of spiritual discipline in my life, pulling me beyond the focus on individual verses or passages and allowing me to see the way God works throughout the canon to more fully reveal herself to humanity.

The Bible Podcast I've Been Looking For

I recently started listening to "Reading in Church" and I'm hooked. The brilliant insights and scholarship combined with humor and a genuine love for Scripture are unlike anything else I've found. This is something rare and special. It feeds my mind and soul. I think it will prove to be an invaluable resource for preaching when I use the lectionary, but that's not why I listen. I listen because it reminds me of the conversations I have with pastor friends and seminary friends, reveling in the text and having fun at the same time.
