||CleanS1 E10: Jacob Morgan | How Designing the Employee Experience Will Reshape the Future of Work||In this episode, I speak with Jacob Morgan to talk about the employee experience and the future of work. Jacob Morgan is a keynote speaker, a podcaster, a best-selling author, but is most known as a futurist who works with leaders and organizations to explore the future of work. His latest book is The Employee Experience Advantage - How to Win the War for Talent by Giving Employees the Workspaces they Want, the Tools they Need, and a Culture they Can Celebrate. In some of my own work, I have explored how the idea of experience - in all its uses; guest experience, customer experience, or user experience - should to be holistic and transformative. So, I when came upon Jacob’s work on the Employee Experience, I knew that I needed to have his as a guest on the podcast. So, a while back we had a conversation and I started by asking him, “What is a futurist?" Please listen to the episode below or by listening on Apple Podcasts. ||CleanS1 E9: Mark DeYmaz | How the Church Needs to Be Disrupted||In this episode, I sit down for a conversation with Mark DeYmaz for a conversation about how the American Church is ripe for disruption. In the business world, the word ‘disruption' has become somewhat of an overused buzzword. To be a disruptor, whether you are a company or a visionary leader, has become somewhat of a badge of honor. But, if you talk to seasoned innovators, they will tell you that it is not all glory. Many have experienced a lot of frustration, disillusionment, and many ...have given up on their dreams all together. But, what about disruption in the American Church? Not much has been discussed about that! A while back, I had the chance to talk to Mark DeYmaz who is one of these disruptive leaders. I heard so much of my own story in his as he shared how and where he grew up, his dream of playing professional baseball, how he entered the ministry, and how he began to see ways in which the American church needed to be disrupted. Mark DeYmaz is the founding pastor of the Mosaic Church of Central Arkansas, a multi-ethnic and economically diverse church. He is also a co-founder and currently the Executive Director of the Mosaix Global Network, an organization dedicated to inspiring unity and diversity in the local church throughout North America and beyond. Additionally, he has written seven books including, Disruption: Repurposing the Church to Redeem the Community. ||CleanS1 E8: Nancy Duarte & Patti Sanchez | How to Use Storytelling to Lead Change||In this episode, I sit down for a conversation with Nancy Duarte and Patti Sanchez to talk about the power of storytelling to lead change. As a leader, have you ever found yourself with a such powerful and clear vision, at least in your mind, of what your organization needed to look like in the future? You know how it is, you take the leap, and then you look around you only to realize you are alone. No one else took the leap with you, and now you are left feeling frustrated if not betrayed? I know I have. In fact, I have come to call this, what it looks like to be a frustrated visionary. One who is stuck in the messy middle between that fantastic vision and and the elusive fulfillment. Today, I get to share with you a wonderful conversation that I had a couple of months ago with two people that I have come to admire, in almost a benevolent stalker kind of way, for their thought leadership, but more importantly for their generous friendship. Nancy Duarte is the CEO of Duarte, Inc., a communication design firm that is noted as the largest female owned agency in Silicon Valley. Patti Sanchez is the Chief Strategy Officer of Duarte and together they wrote a book called "Illuminate" that has transformed my perspective about the power of story to help lead change. We talked about how they started working together, how they compliment each other, and their journey of writing this book together. Steve Chaparro has a great voice a seems born for this medium. Nice intro on your Podcast. It is just enough to get people hooked and not too much to get distracted. I'm excited to here more about your guest's "....messy middle"! I hope the talks are short and meaty, not unlike this intro piece. I'm drawn to simple provocations and prodding people's yearnings vs. telling all the details from beginning to end. There are zillions of podcasts that bore us to death as creatives. You seem like someone that would rather elicit behavior and action than just entertain people. Not a "cliff-hanger" exactly, but something subjectively akin.
I loved the nostalgia component too....very classy and grounded!
